Newton le Willows MXC

Motocross at Bleak Hall

Sunday 7th September

Report by John Radcliff

In what has been an exceptional year for weather the elements gave Newton le Willows MXC an almost perfect track to ride on Sunday. Torrential rain showers on Saturday left the track well watered after grading during the week before and Sunday dawned bright and fair to remain so all day.

In the auto class Malachi Mitchell-Thomas continued his dominance with a fine win from Luke Norton and Samuel Norris. Lee the younger of the Bamber brothers took first place in the Juniors with battles for places all the way down the field. Ryan Shepherd took second place from Stacey Fisher in third. Glen Barron was second in the Small Wheel 85 class maintaining the improvement he has shown all season. Jack West returned to competition after a broken hand to take a runaway win With Gary Percival third.

The elder of the Bamber brothers, Danny took a very hard fought win from Nathan Parker with the pair of them scrapping at extremely high speed throughout three spectacular races. Kevin Wells grabbed third place from the remainder of the gate.

David Parker won the S/B 125 but had to fight hard for his win in a very hotly contested class. Adam Turner continues to improve with a good sixth place and Callum Smith made a welcome comeback to racing with eighth place. Second spot went to Lee Hill and third to Simon Ashe.

The Adult classes combined and once more produced some spectacular racing from the front runners. Gary Cookson, Richard Blakeman and Alan Gibson claimed 125 honours with Keith Boyle, Jack Yates and Sean Radcliff on top in the Open class. None of the Championship places are completely safe yet and everything is down to the final meeting at Garstang on Sunday, 28th September. See you there.
