Pitcher Aaron Coonrod Selected in Major League Baseball Draft

Aaron Coonrod, a sophomore from Freemont, Ohio, was selected in the fourth round of the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft by the San Diego Padres. He was the 115th pick overall.

With an ERA of 1.93, Coonrod won 10 games for the Volunteers this season, including their first-round victory at the NJCAA World Series. He struck out 115 batters this year, earning NJCAA All-American honors and was named the Region 24 Player of the Year.
