2001 AS A SOPHOMORE:Voted to the All-ACC second team after going 9-2… ranked seventh in the ACC with an ERA of 3.61 …nine wins tied Varnes for third in the confer-ence…finished seventh in the ACC with 85 strikeouts…six of his 15 starters went seven innings or longer…threw a rain-shortened (seven innings), complete game shutout against Liberty (3/14)…allowed just four hits, struck out nine and walked just two in that game… recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts in seven scoreless innings against the Citadel (3/27) …dropped ERA from 6.55 on 3/3 to 3.05 on 5/17 …picked up the victory at Georgia Tech on 4/28, allowing one earned run over seven innings.
2000 AS A FRESHMAN:Spent the year as the No. 4 starter behind Mike Ziegler, Jon McDonald and Blair Varnes …finished with a perfect 7-0 record and a 3.24 ERA…a first team Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American and a third team Baseball America Freshman All-American… invited to the Team USA trials following the freshman season…started against Evansville in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional and earned the victory after giving up two runs in eight innings and tying a season-high with eight strikeouts…made one appearance in the 2000 College World Series…earned the victory against St. Joseph’s (3/14) after going six innings, giving up one earned run and striking out eight…made a last minute start for an ill Blair Varnes at Virginia and responded with a 6.2 inning outing and a win…struck out six Cavaliers and gave up three runs… earned his first career save at North Carolina (5/14) after working three scoreless innings…struck out the side in a relief appearance against Miami in the Super Regional on 6/2 …lone appearance in the College World Series was against LSU, striking out one batter and giving up one hit (no runs)…ranked third on the team with 62 strikeouts.
