New NeilPryde SailsOne of the things I miss about life on land is being a NeilPryde sail dealer. We gave that up to go cruising, but before we did, we needed sails for our new boat. With the help of Tim Yourieff, Bob Pattison and the crew at NeilPryde Sails, we got exactly what we had in mind. Our's isn't your typical S2 11.0C rig. We added an inner forestay for the stays'l and went with a boomless roller furled main. You don't see boomless mains on sailboats every day, but it made sense to us. Why have unnecessary hardware. With the boomless roller furled setup, we no longer have a boom, a vang, a sail cover, reef lines, battens, etc. Our rig has 3 furling lines run to Alado furlers, a main sheet, a stays'l sheet, 2 Genoa sheets and that's it. How simple is that? We have a halyard for the bosun's chair, but none were needed for the sails. the Alado furlers have built-in halyards. because of this feature, they don't need a swivel at the top to give you trouble. The Alado design focuses on simplicity reliability and low maintainance. Of course the NeilPryde sails are great! The fit is perfect. The sheeting angles hit exactly where they were intended. The quality can't be beat! But most of all, the people ar NeilPryde are wonderful to deal with! I'll miss dealing with them regularly.
