Kugenuma Beach surf check

News:   August 9th 2003. OK before you grab your board and run out of the door, I'm afraid the pic below is yesterday and it's on Niijima island. Looks like they got the swell perfect as they are out further into the ocean. All the main spots must have been firing yesterday and probably huge today. Here in Shonan we have big onshore typhoon conditions - too dangerous to go out on any of the main beaches. It's forecast to be very windy and rainy until tonight so hopefully Sunday morning will clean it all up. For some reason it's often sunny and offshore after a typhoon. The only spot I know working today is Shirahama, near Shimoda, but I wouldn't want to drive there in this weather. See you out there tomorrow! (Look at the Links page for more Niijima pics!)
