Along, long time ago, I can still remember how a man made a sport so interesting and how if he had is chance, he could send chills with just one glance, and maybe he'd have his victory for awhile.

I can't remember when I cried as hard for a man and his widowed bride, even though I had never met the guy, the day...the Intimidator died.

Bye Bye Mr. #3 Guy Drove your Chevy one last time and you made us all cry. Just a good old boy who brought racing into our lives. Saying this will be the wildest ride Saying this will be the wildest ride.

Did he mean to drop back into the pack to help his boys on that last lap the man on TV told me so and do you believe his unselfish act would result in his crash and take him to the place God wanted him to go

Well, I know that he's in happy place Driving in that eternal race with that smile upon his face that thought I can't erase.

Bye Bye Mr. #3 Guy Drove your Chevy one last time and you made us all cry. Just a good old boy who brought racing into our lives. Saying this will be the wildest ride Saying this will be the wildest ride.

I saw a fan in the midst of tears and asked her if she remembered the years that the man won his 7 crowns So I went down to the sacred track and looked at all the streaks of black and all I could do was frown.

And in the lot the fans all screamed and woke up hoping it was just a dream and that we just heard it wrong and our man could not be gone.

And the man that I admired most, the Intimidator, became a ghost he lost his life down by the coast the day, the roaring, died.

They were singing...

Bye Bye Mr. #3 Guy Drove your Chevy one last time and you made us all cry. Just a good old boy who brought racing into our lives. Saying this will be the wildest ride Man, you gave us one hell of a ride.

"Poem From A Fan"

Sitting atop the Paddock Club Suites, watching the   race       They're on the last lap, oh what a chase.

Here comes Michael, Dale Jr, and Dale Just half a mile to go, please engine don't fail.

They are all racing hard, look here they come in a   line...Oh my God, Marlin tapped Earnhardt, please let him be fine.

The race is now over and the emotions are high.   I feel a strange feeling as I look to the sky.

Is Earnhardt alright? Someone say he's okay.   But the word doesn't come, and people call it a day.

Heading out of the track, we assume all went well. When all of sudden the day turns to hell.

The cell phone rings, I'll never forget the words that he said, "Hello, are you there? Dale Earnhardt is dead!"

Tears filled my eyes and I said , No, please say its   not so,But the message was confirmed and now that we know....

my thoughts are of him, and his family of course.   I know they are filled with painful grief and remorse.

Maybe he wasn't my family, but he was loved by me. NASCAR won't be the same without the black number three.

He may be gone, but not forgotten indeed.   His legacy will live on.... for he has planted a seed.

That seed is Dale Jr., and with him I'll now cheer.   For I loved his dad, the man with no fear.

I hope Dale Jr. can still race the same,   for his future was carved out, when given his name.

Maybe he will, maybe he'll not bother...But if I know that family, he'll take after his father.

Go race and win, Dale Jr., do it for your dad.   I know it is hard, and I know you are sad.

But your dad, he'll be there with you every step of the way, As your guardian co-pilot some just might say.

I know he's not gone. He's just not here in sight,   and I hope his son will put up the fight.

To follow the path his dad has laid out.   On the tracks with the fans, is what life was about.

So don't cry for Dale, he lived a good life, He had 4 wonderful children, and a beautiful wife.

He lived his dream and was loved by many fans   Just look at the black number 3's in the stands.

Dale, thanks for the memories and for all that you've done..I'll never forget your tragic last run.

I'll cherish the thoughts of you in your car.   You were the all time champion, a legend, a star.

So, as you pass on to heaven, I'll picture your face,   and I'll know that in heaven you'll continue to race.

With Neil, Davey, Adam and the rest. But I'll always remember that #3 was the best.

We'll miss you, Dale, it won't be the same without you!

"The Man In Black"
The Heaven 500 was just getting started, an ALL-star race, for the racing departed Heros of the track, with nerves like steel, and sitting on the pole, was a cat named Neil.

Adam Petty was there, with his beautiful smile, Kenny Irwin determined to finish with style. Lee Petty was glowing with that Grandfathers pride, with Davey and Clifford, both in a new ride.

Fireball Roberts, floated in on a cloud, while Tony Roper waved to the heavenly crowd. Morrosso and Nemechek , then Tim Richmond appeared. Kulwicki strapped in, while the racing fans cheered.

The honorary starter, for this heavenly race, Ralph Earnhardt was chosen, a tear on his face. But the red flag flew, just before it had begun, and every eye was wide open looking to the SON.

A last minute entry was the cause of the delay, while fans were instructed to kneel and pray. The heavens turned black and the clouds turned dark, the lightening was brilliant, the thunder did bark.

Then out of the rumble, for all there to see, the clouds formed a number, a BLACK number three. The heavenly fans then erupted with pride, and welcomed the star, who recenty died.

With a bolt of lightening, Dale Earnhardt arrived, As he stood before Jesus, his spirit revived. Jesus hugged his precious child, then revealed his perfect plan. "I brought you home to let you know that I'm your biggest fan"

"The intimidator was needed for this heavenly race, leaving all your earthly fans with honor and grace" Ralph Earnhardt stepped forward embracing his son, the whispered in the ear of Dale, "Lets go have some fun"

As Ralph stood proud, the green flag flew, the crowd went wild and the tension grew, And just like salvation. the admission was free, as every eye focused on the black number three.

When the checkered flag dropped, no dry eyes remained, "It's a photo finish". as Jesus explained. He said "There are no losers on this heavenly track, this is a welcome home party for the Man in Black

"The Final lap"

A thrill was in the air that day As the number three flashed past Shouts and cheers rose on the wind As his car sped by so fast.

The race had been so thrilling The finish line just ahead The thought did not occur to us We'd see tragedy instead.

The final lap came all to soon For a hero we held dear Little did we know that day That the end for him was near.

Our hearts are filled with sadness Our hero had to leave To race across the Heavens now While we are left to grieve.

The gates of Heaven opened His final trophy gleaming bright He slowly gunned his engine As he drove into the light.

"Tribute To Dale Earnhardt"

He was known as the "Intimidator," the "Man in Black" was he; Smokin' 'round the race track, in his Chevy No. 3.

He was a racing Champion, admired and loved by all; His name is Dale Earnhardt, who crashed into a wall.

A quietness was in the air, which fell as heavy as thick rain; As the announcement pierced us all, we could feel the shuddering pain.

The last turn on the track, was his final lap of life; Now he is a Nascar legend, leaving behind a loving wife.

For this Nascar superhero, God had another plan; No racing engines needed, with God's golden wings to span.

Dale is up in Heaven, racing to a familiar tune; It is "Amazing Grace," God gave to him so soon.
