The Aussie Team named for the 2001 Worlds...
Triathlon Australia (TA) has named the starting line-up
positions for the 2001 ITU Triathlon World Championships in Edmonton,
Canada on 22 July.
Following performances at the recent Triathlon World Cup
in Toronto, Peter Robinson (NSW), Trent Chapman (NSW) and Melissa
Ashton (NSW) have all been confirmed as members of Team Triathlon
Australia.
TA will reserve the decision on injured Team Member, Liz
Blatchford (WA) until later in the week when assessed by TA Medical
Officers. Liz was injured in a cycle accident last month while
training on the Gold Coast.
TA will also withhold a decision on the possibility of
adding Emma Carney (VIC) to the team until after TA Medical Officers,
Dr Bruce Hamilton and Dr Diane Robinson, and TA Elite Teams Coaching
Director, Col Stewart have considered her fitness for the start.
Emma withdrew from both national selection races.
Team Triathlon Australia will reside in camp at Red Deer,
Alberta until moving to Edmonton to contest the 13th annual ITU
Triathlon World Championships.
