Nicole takes Bay to Breakers
Nicole Hackett has won the Women's division of
the 2001 Bay to Breakers.
Nicole's finishing time was 39mins 18sec - which
was a comfortable win over former winner Margaret Beardslee.
Nicole and some of the (so far confirmed)
Australian Triathlon team for the triathlon World
Championships will leave for Edmonton, Canada this week,
where Hackett and other Aussies will race in an ITU World
Cup race. The race will also decide the final spot on the
Aussie teams.
The Bay to Breakers - an 11km run on the Central
Coast from Gosford (the 'Bay') to Terrigal (the 'Breakers')
this year attracted a record 778 people.
After the win Nicole commented on the hilly
course which tested her. "My plan was to push myself as hard
as possible," Hackett said. "The hills are a struggle but it
was a good workout for me. My plan was to go out hard and
maintain it as long as possible. I treated the race as a
hard training session with the world championships coming
up."
