CENTRAL Coast triathletes scored a rare double in the competitive Kia Formula One series with Nicole Hackett and Barb Lindquist taking out the top two spots.
World champion and long-time coast resident Hackett, 22, scored two race wins and a second to take the overall series for the third consecutive year.
The effort equalled the record set by triathlon great Jackie Gallagher.
Lindquist, America's top female triathlete and "a part-time coastie", was consistent with fourth, second and first placings to finish second overall.
"I was hoping for a podium finish in all three races but at the start of the series I wasn't very fit at all," Hackett said.
"After winning the first race (Geelong) I went into the second one (Manly) knowing I was fitter but the race was still tougher. Unfortunately I couldn't do it again in the third (Gold Coast) -Barb's been training really well and she deserved to win that one."
Lindquist, 31, moved to Chittaway Point in September to escape the snowy winters in her hometown of Jackson, Wyoming.
"That was my fourth Formula One series here in Australia and this year my main aim was to be on the podium at the end of each race," Lindquist said.
"I was close to reaching that goal and absolutely stoked to get the win in the final race."
Both women believe the Formula One series is an integral part of the triathlete's calendar. Hackett, who made her debut in the series at the age of 15, said it helped develop her interest and skill in the sport.
"It's the best thing for developing into the sport and I know I wouldn't be where I am today without it," she said.
Lindquist said it forced the triathletes to work on their speed and gave intenational competitors a chance to see Australia.
