This is me, standing beside Danian age (that's early Tertiary) limestones. This is immediately (as in 3m) to the west of the KT boundary. It's really a shame that I didn't have a better camera with me, because the most stunning feature of these rocks (aside from their steep bedding and very regular alternation between resistant Limestone and recessive Shale) is that they are bright pink! These were apparently deposited in the Basque-Cantabrian basin during an extremely long, quiet period in the basin. The alternations are suspected to be associated with the Milankovich cycles, and represent periods of up to 100,000 y each!
