Our wonderful instructor from the University of the Basque Country, Koldo, is sitting on Cretaceous rocks, he is pointing at Tertiary rocks. Which means...yes, that's right, this is the infamous KT boundary. It's always a little disappointing to look at - I mean, can you really see anything at all? No, the difference is in the chemical composition of the rock (and sometimes a bit of ash, but these were deep sea sediments, so didn't really get much ash...). I guess we have to have Geochemists for something, afterall ;) (Sorry Kimmy!)
