Good Grief, It's Heath
Heath Ledger might come 'From The Land Down Under' but he's taking Hollywood by storm with his starring role in the cool new flick, 10 Things I Hate About You. TV HITS got all the gossip.
Congratulations on Ten Things I Hate About You.
Oh thank you. I thought the difference with this one was that it wasn't making fun of teenagers, it was just having fun with them.
Did you enjoy filming it?
Well about the first week on set I was really spaced out because I just finished shooting Two Hands in Australia, and after that I had to fly straight to LA then to Seattle. I got off the plane with one day to relax and then I started shooting the next day.
Phew. You must have been really tired.
Yeah, it was interesting because I'd missed the first two weeks of rehearsals and I missed the first four days of shooting. I kind of turned up late and no-one new what I was like. So it worked out perfect because my character, Patrick, is from out of town and mysterious.
Who did you end up being closest to on-set?
We all became very close because we were stuck in the same hotel in Seattle together for a couple of months. We bonded really well and I think that was what had a huge impact on the movie. Since shooting I've hung out quiet a bit with Andrew Keegan.
Do you get recognized a lot now?
People have been recognizing me a little bit but my hair is really short and blonde now.
Have you cut your hair for another movie role?
I cut it short for a screen test of a job I just got. It's a revolutionary war piece with Mel Gibson. It's basically the movie on how America claimed their independence from the British.
You co-starred with Keri Russell from Felicity in a series called Roar, are you still friends?
Yeah, she was really great to work with. She was an absolute ball, she's a gorgeous, gorgeous girl. She can act, she's a professional. You know, I can just go on for hours. And we're good mates. We still keep in contact.
You also guest starred on Home and Away?
I worked on it for about a week. I was living in Bondi at the time and it was the only job that had come around for a while so I did it and as soon as I'd said "yeah, I'll do it", I got the role in Roar (laughs).
Thanks for talking to us.
No problem. Bye
