my josh story

this is really long....its worth it though! well i think anyway.. heheh

Saturday, April 8, 2000 º at this moment, i believe i am the luckiest person in the world! :)
today we went down to Pearl Harbor (Ford Island) to check out the set for the movie "Pearl Harbor" for the second time. We (my dad took us.. nice, huh? hehe.. and my friend and my sister came tooo..) drove over to where we'd gone the first time, by the hangars, but it was all blocked off and stuff because they had supposedly officially started the filming today. There were two army trucks set up next to a building and there was a big camera mounted onto the back of a pick-up truck and we walked over to check it out and stuff. They were waiting for the sun to come back out so they could get the shot (it's been incredibly rainy this past week, they picked a bad time to come here.. weell for the filming anyway). Anyway, so we stood around and watched for a while, when the sun finally did come back out, the truck speeded away from the army trucks, they set off some things that sounded like gunshots and two navy extras ran across the road to a wood gate thing they'd set up, and then ran behind it. Later we found out it'd taken them TWO AND A HALF HOURS to get that one shot. At this rate, they'll prolly be here for a while!
Anyway, so after watching a few takes (and i think the final one) of that, i decided i wanted to go back over to where they had the trailers and stuff set up. On the way back over there, we saw all the Navy extras and such up on the U.S.S Missouri (you know that huge giant ship?). There were cameras and stuff up there, and they were filming a boxing scene.. supposedly they'd set up a little boxing ring on the deck and they were filming that shot today, tomorrow and Monday. Soo, we sat in the car for a bit and watched the people up on the boat (not an incredibly entertaining thing, they had waay tight security (they closed the boat tours for this weekend) and we couldn't exactly see like.. anything). Eventually, we all got out of the car and went up to the security guard that was there to sorta moniter who went in and out of the boat and made sure "civilians" didnt get in and that sort of thing.. you know, the normal security guardish job. yah.. anyway so we talked to him for a while about everything and he was really cool and told us a whole buncha stuff about the movie, and we saw Cuba Gooding Jr.'s stunt double guy. Sometime after that (we were standing there for prolly like 25, 30 minutes) some guy (im guessing the director) on a megaphone shouted action and all the sailor guys started yelling and stuff, apparently filming the boxing scene, and then he was like 'No, cut, cut!' and everyone shut up and about five minutes later, all the navy extras came down off the ship. The security guard dude then told us that there were approximately 250 of them, and they all got paid $100 bux per day! (im not sure if i heard right but thats what it sounded like)
Soo, they all came down and it was like a big mob of guys in navy uniforms and then like they sorta thinned out a bit and there weren't so many of them, and i looked towards the back and saw this one guy who looked remarkably like Josh Hartnett. Sooo, i moved forward a little more and i was like "Hey sara is that josh?" (sara's my friend who came with us) and we both just sorta stood there and he got closer and i was like 'oh my god it is josh!!" and i sort of repeated that about five hundred times, he walked up, looked at us sorta weird since we were standing there staring at him with our mouths hanging open, and he walked right past. Of course, that's the time my mouth decides to work, but just a little bit way too late. it was so incredilby stupid!
The security guard was laughing at us. we're complete morons, what can i say? hehe.. but he was soo cute, he had on tan khaki-lookin pants and a white shirt and his hair is grown out, he looks really rad (as usual). he was supposed to go up and do some more filming, but then people started talking on the security guard's radio thing and they said "wrap josh, cuba, mike and will" (i dunno who mike and will were... actually i think we met will, someone stole his wallet.. poor guy). Gawd, im like.. getting off track here.. ANYWAY so the people on the radio said stuff about josh, and since he'd been there since like 5am filming (and it was now almost 4), i guess they decided to let him go home.. or back to the hotel, rather.
We were standing around by the security guard and like i looked over at the trailers and there was Josh, just walking around.. So, after about five minutes of "Dude, thats Josh right there. We should go over there", we FINALLY went over there, and he went into a trailer like the moment we got there. So we just sorta stood around for a bit and then he walked around from behind a trailer and he was just standing there and hed changed when he went into the trailer cuz he had on dark green cargo shorts now (sara later informed me they were abercrombie and fitch.. she read the tag. shes just like that. hehehe) and a white shirt over another white shirt and these rad dorky shoes and a cute greenish hat.
Wow, it took me a long time to get here. So, I was brave and i walked up to him and we were all like 'josh!' and he turned around and he looked confused or something and he did his sorta half smile thing and gawd hes so adorable... hehehe and he shook my hand and i introduced myself and he was like "Hi Ashley, I'm Josh. Nice to meet you." And i asked him to take a pic with me and he did (and he put his arm around me... hehe wow huh?)... and he took a pic with sara and with my sister too and then my sister was like "could i take a pic of you just like... you, standing there?" and he laughed and hes like yah, sure. buut shes a moron and she put her finger like completely over the lens when she took it and he was like "umm your finger was like totally covering the.... thing that takes the pictures" so she took another and stuff..they came out really good! go here to see them. But anyway, he was really really really sweet and he signed stuff for us (Sara handed him a "Here on Earth" postcard to sign and he was like "wow, ive never seen this before" hehehe). On my paper thingy, he wrote: Ashley Take care of yourself Josh Hartnett. He was really really nice and we talked to him for a quite while actually.. we asked him about the cars in the faculty (he said "they had a hard time keeping it running") and here on earth and a buncha stuff... hes so sweet! today was like the raddest day.. hehehe anyway, thats my josh hartnett story.. sorry it took me forever to finally get to the jsoh parts! bye bye!
