My Son
I sit here watching day by day
As life goes rushing by
I see you growing up so fast
It makes me want to cry
It seems it was just yesterday
You came into this world
Your eyes were blue, your lungs were strong
Your tiny fists were curled
You looked at me with wonderous eyes
Our bond began to grow
I fed you, rocked you sang to you
My smile you grew to know
So soon you had your own first smile
And then came your first laugh
I still can hear your joy and glee
When you first saw a giraffe
And next you took your big first step
And then of course you fell
I picked you up and kissed your tears
And everything was well
The next time that I listened close
What do you think I heard?
You're right of course, what could it be
But your own first word
Oh, why hadn't I noticed
That so much time had passed
I realized my little boy
Was growing up so fast
Too soon my darling baby boy
Could sing as well as talk
He ran so often he must have
Forgotten how to walk
It seems so quickly we were off
On our way to preschool
I dropped you off and walked on home
Crying like a fool
Today he wipes off mommy's kiss
He says its yucky now
I wish I could just stop in time
If only I knew how
You're growing up so quickly son
I just want you to know
With each new step and every inch
My love for you does grow.
Your Love
Your love lifts me up
high into the sky
Makes me open my wings
and dares me to fly
Your love brightens up
every dark, dreary day
Makes me see the whole world
in a bright, brand new way
Your love keeps me warm
through every cold night
Makes things that seemed wrong
seem so suddenly right
Your love keeps me safe
and soothes all my fears
It comforts my soul
and wipes away all my tears
Your love picks me up
every time I fall down
Makes me giggle and laugh
when I’d usually frown
Your love opened up
my heart and my soul
Makes me share every thought,
every dream and each goal
Your love is a treasure,
it’s been sweet from the start
It’s a love that’s returned
with all of my heart.
Two Become One
Two people Wandering,
searching
On their own separate journeys
Each on their own path
Sometimes walking
Sometimes running
Sometimes slipping
Stumbling, falling
On their own journeys
The path twisting
Turning
Each absorbed in their path
Not knowing what it is
That they are missing
Yet knowing there is something.
Their paths cross
Meeting suddenly
Their eyes meet
They stop
Each one taking a break
From the path they were on
Stopping, talking, learning
Their worlds stop
They look around
Needing to move forward
To continue with their journeys
And realize
There are no longer two separate paths
But One
The paths have joined
Melded
Become One
Looking at each other
They smile
Take each other's hand
And start down the newly joined path
Together
As One
For two have become One
Together they start their new journey
Working through the landmines
Sidestepping the potholes
Never noticing them
Only seeing the walk in the park
Holding each other up
They are joined
Their path is now One
They are now One.
