Dragon's Girl

*In a forgoten glen a bustle of ancient voices whispered about. A small group of dragons gathered around a small girl. Being no older than 16 this girl had never been so afraid. These gallant creatures had taken her from her bed and brought her to this sacred place. A place of worship and a place of sacrifice. The dragon who had taken her had promised that she wouldn't be harmed. But now, as she looked at all the toothy grins, she felt sure of her own demise. The dragons lowered their massive heads to get a better look at the damsel. She was supple and beautiful with womanly features showing through a sapphire night gown. She trembled with fear as her legs gave way and took her to the ground. Her body was no larger than most of the dragons teeth. A huge hand reached out and took her into its palm. The onyx beast brought her close to its muzzle to get a good look and smell of the beauty. It nodded approvingly as it curled its finger in anticipation. She somehow felt less afraid in this black dragons grasp. The scales beneath her were warm and slick. His breath misted her face with a warm dew as he spook in an accented tongue.
"She is the one we have been in need. Yes, she is the one." He looked down at her after the words rolled around his jagged teeth. He cocked his head and smiled in his dragon way.
"Do not be afraid young one, I am 'Brasarus' the king of dragon world and your future advisor." Her trembles halted as she looked into his kind eyes. With his free claw he brushed a tendril of silky hair from her face. She held her breath as the razor edge ran down the side of her face. But he did not harm her, he and his kind had a very good idea of how much power and strength they held in their grasp.
"Well, then, shall we be one our way? I'm sure your very tired and it is half way till dawn." Brasarus said in a cheery sort of tone as he set her on the top of his head. She snuggled down between his ears and rows of ridged horns. The horns ran down each side of his skull and connected to run together down to the tip of his nose. With the warm breeze running through her hair she fell into a girlish sleep top her guardians head.

Sunlight awoke her to the dawn of a new and bright future. She stood and looked around her at the odd surroundings. She had never seen such a land of beauty and bounty. Trees were hundreds of feet tall and many feet wide. Hills and streams were more like oceans and mountains to people of her time. She, was in Dragon World.
"Surprising isnt it?" Brasarus asked from beneath her. She turned to look down his neck and into his pleasant eyes. She smiled and nodded. The forest that he lay in was pleasant and by far the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. Around her all was dark with shadow, except where they lay. A stream of morning sunlight poured down over them with angelic warmth. She collapsed down on her stomach. With a smile supported by her elbows she asked him, "What's for breakfast?" A chuckled spilled from his throat.
"Shall we go have a look?" He asked lifting her unto his claw. He stood and shook his massive frame from the grass and dew that had gathered. Suddenly a roar of anger was heard throughout the forest as a man came running at her and the dragon. Instantly she recognized him, "Derrick!" She screamed as her fiancee leaped into the air with dagger in hand. Brasarus met him half way with an open claw. But instead of putting him instantly to death he only grabbed hold of him.
"Who is this human to you princess?" He asked calming the silent fury in his eyes.
"He is the man I am to Mary. Not my choice mind you, but by my parents the king and queen" She said staring at the hatred in Derrick's eyes. She had Forgoten completely of him.
"Then chose now, his death or mine. Do you wish to live in the human or Dragon World?" The dragon had turned serious with hardness in his eyes. She shook her head at the decision. The thought of losing Basarus broke her heart. Why? She could not be sure, it was almost as though she had a kinship with the dragon. In these last few hours she had turned more animal with every passing moment. If Brasarus were to be killed, Derrick would surely take her back to the real world, into a world of hatred and lust. After being married Derrick would have his way with her body anytime he like. The thought of this atrocity made her want to scream.
"You can't ask me to do that." She shook her head as the words stuttered over her tongue.
"Choose!" The dragon growled as the fire in his nostrils ignited. He shook his head with irritation and quenched the inferno immediately. A tear streamed, I can't do this. This is not me, this is not who I am. No matter how much I hate him, does that give me the right to put him to death? As she thought the words she felt a vicious animal instinct come out in her. An instinct that she could not control.
"Fine! I wouldn't be able to live with Derrick and I can't live without you. Kill him." She spat then collapsed in the shoulder deep grass. Tears streamed at the sounds of Derrick's last cry. How could I do it? She asked herself. Brasarus threw what was left of Derrick's body over the forest and into the closest river. He then turned to the lady.
"You chose right." He whispered in the deepest of rolling tongues. She looked up into his eyes of honesty and nodded. He lifted her close to his muzzle and let her weep in his palm.
"Queen of the dragons, will you rule over Dragon World?" He asked quietly. she looked up through blurry eyes.
"Was that what this was about? You allowed Derrick close to test me?" The dragon nodded. She composed herself and stood. "Yes, I will be your queen, dragon." The dragon leapt with joy and squeezed her in a simple dragon hug. His people had been in need of a ruler for many centuries and now he believed that she would be wise and true. They smiled at each other and walked to meet her realm.
