...what exactly is a WebRing anyway? what can it do for my page...?
WebRing was created by Sage Weil in 1995.
In 1998 Starseed Inc took over webring, which then became a part of Geocities
Now in 1999 Starseed Inc, Geocities Inc, and Yahoo ! Inc merged
Yahoo ! is promising new features with webring in the future.

Anyone can use this to create a sort of chain to connect sites together using a CGI script. This is a totally free service! For more details about WebRing, visit their site.

Rings can be a benefit to your page, making it easier for people to find you and linking your page to many others. It makes a sort of community among people with common interests.

...the images aren't showing up...!
First make sure you uploaded the images into your directory along with your page. If it's there, check the case of the file name (COP2.GIF vs cop2.gif). Also check that you saved it as a .gif AND your html fragment says "gif" also, or JPG if that is the format. In other words, make sure the extention of the file is the same as it says in the HTML fragment.
...I'm kind of new and I'm not sure how to add the fragment...
Ok.. I've never used a Mac but I can tell you how to do this on a PC.

1) Go to the ring page that has the HTML code, and drag your mouse over the code to highlight it.
2) Then right-click and "Copy" that. This puts it on the computer's "clipboard" for a bit.
3) Now go to either your offline HTML editor and open your page, or go to your homepage service's online editor.
4) Right click in the window where you want to put the ring info and "Paste".
5) Edit whatever code was red on the ring's fragment page. YOURIDHERE must be replaced with the site ID number you are given when you join the queue. Sometimes your name and email address goes into too.
6) Save your page and upload it if nessasary. You also need to upload the graphic if you haven't yet. Same way you upload an HTML file.
7) Go to your page and reload it to view the changes.

...I was trying to use the ring system but it's down or something...
All I can say is to try again later. When WebRing's server is down they work very hard to get it back online again and chase all the cats away.
...Can I join more than one ring...?
Yes, you may join as many of the rings which guidelines your page fits in.
...It doesn't work...
