MONTAGE
NOIRE VARTIETALS
MONTAGNE
NOIRE is named for a famous hillside located between Carcassonne and Beziers
in the Languedoc Region of Southern France. Approximately 25 years ago
our oenologists discovered that the soil and weather conditions were perfect
for the planting of high varietal grapes.
The warm
Mediterranean climate along with the improvement in the technical aspect
of wine making, permits us to produce a fruity wine, deep color containing
all the distinguishing characteristics of the varietal grape.
The MONTAGNE
NOIRE range has been created by Jean Marc LAFAGE, a French wine maker who
has worked extensively in the New World in conjunction with Foncalieu,
France.
The Merlot
and Cabernet Sauvignon wines are produced from grapes that are picked at
optimum ripeness. Long fermentation on the skin gives a deeply colored,
full flavored wine with a lingering finish. It partners perfectly with
red meats, game and casseroles.
The Syrah
is a powerful red wine, deep in color with a delicious full fruit flavor.
Our Sauvignon
Blanc is dry, fresh crispy with a pronounced varietal bouquet.
The Montagne
Noire Chardonnay is produced using Australian wine making techniques resulting
in a stylish top quality wine with a rich toasty bouquet and great depth
on the palate.
The two
split varietals are also in the tradition of Australia and are not easily
found in the French wine trade. The Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot produces
wines reminiscent of the great Bordeaux and the Grenache/Sauvignon Blanc
produce a totally unique wine with extraordinary fruit.
