HE LOVES PLAYING PRACTICAL JOKES
There's this joke shop in American shopping malls called Spencers. They sell all kinds of cool pranks - from itching powder to handshake gadgets that give people electric shocks. My favorites are these sweets you buy with trick fillings - you know, with soap and stuff in them! I can really get on the other guys' nerves sometimes.

HE DIDN'T SACRIFICE SCHOOL
I've been in the band since the age of 13. In that time I've been part of the Home School process. My dad came out on the road with me and he got the paperwork and everything from the school. I did my homework on the tour bus and in the hotel room. But now he doesn't have to worry. Now he's got Aaron to look after.

HE DOESN'T MIND BEING THE YOUNGEST
First of all I come from a family of five who are all younger than me. It's kind of a switch around here, a total reversal. I'm the youngest. Instead of me picking my little brothers - the boys in the band pick on me! I've had to grow up a little bit faster than ususal for someone my age. But I guess it's also the nature of the business I'm in.

...BUT HE STILL GETS HIS SAY
I'm an equal member of The Backstreet Boys. I've got just as much say to what goes on as the other guys. We decide on everything we do together. It's the same for the records we release and the musical direction we're heading in.

HE'S STILL WAY TOO YOUNG TO GET INTO U.S. BARS
At my age I'm a little bit too young to go to a club (in the States you have to be 21). It can be embarrassing when i'm with the band and the doorman says, 'Hold on, buddy. We'll need some proof of age here.' Personally I don't like clubbing or drinking. It's not somehting that turns me on. If the guys go out clubbing I'll ususally stay back in the hotel room and play my Nintendo 64.

HE'S NOT THE BEST NINTENDO PLAYER IN THE WORLD
I'm not the best Nintendo player in the world. I know that a few of the guys we tour with can beat the crud out of me in some games, like Virtual Fighter. There was this fan in Japan who took me on and made me look 2 inches high.

THE BAND HELP SOLVE HIS PROBLEMS
The other guys take me under their wing a little. They watch out for me. AJ's the closest one to me in age and Brian's the second closest to me. The closeness goes up the lower the age. But if I want to talk about gitls, I'll go to all the guys!

HE'S STAYING HOME
I have no interest in moving out from home, so my folks are gonna have to put up with me for a while yet. Anyway, I'm never there. If I got my own place I'd have to get a maid or a laundry service to come in and help because I'm useless at house work!

THE BAND ARE COOL ABOUT NICK BEING NO. 1
I'd say the guys get jealous a little bit, it's only natural. It's not really an issue in the band. We're all in the Backstreet Boys. I don't feel awkward or uncomfrotable being the focus of attention. To be truthful, I kinda like it.

HE DOESN'T BRAG ABOUT BEING THE FANS' NO. 1
I know I'm the fans' favorite. It's probably because I'm the young, cute one. I'm also the blond in the band. I think my hair is the best part of my body, because of the color. But being the youngest in cool. I love getting fan mail but I don't go bragging about it to the other guys. I don't say, 'Hey look, I've got more fan mail than you.' I'd never do that.

HE'S SCHIZOPHRENIC LIKE JOE WICKS! (but in a nice way)
I think I've got two personalities. When I'm with adults I act far more mature and sensible. But when I'm with people my own age I loosen up. I can be totally myself and not have to worry about my image or what people think of me.

WHAT HE'D STICK ON HIS SONY MINI-DISC
I'm a secret rocker so I'd probably put Nirvana or Metallica on, or the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I love rock music and I'm always listening to it on my Walkman after our shows or on the tour bus.

HOW HE RATES HIS BRIT FANS
Our British fans are beautiful - but wild! They scream your name out and want to tear your clothes off. I was like, 'Wow!'. How can I put it... different than American girls. They more open about the way they say and do things - but I like that.

WITH GIRLS HE FANCIES...
...I go all shy and I'm too scared to talk to them. My face doesn't go red, not really. To a certain extent, I guess.

BRIAN'S TRIED TO GET DATES FOR HIM
Sometimes, if I really fancy a girl, the guys help me out. They go over and tell the girl I lik them and they aask her to come over. But sometimes the girls say, 'Well if he wants to ask me out, he should come over and ask me himself.

NICK ON THE SPICE GIRLS
I have a lot of respect for The Spice Girls. I think they're really good at what they do. I don't really fancy them, though. People often ask me what would happen if I went out on a date with Baby Spice and I always answer, 'Not much'.

NICK'S FIRST KISS
It was wonderful. I wasn't scared. Some of the thoughts going through my mind were, 'Maybe I'm not doing it right' and 'Maybe the girl won't like it'. The girl didn't swoon but she didn't say she didn't like it.

HIS 'FACTS OF LIFE' CLASS WAS EMBARRASSING
I first learnt stuff about sex at school. You pick things in the playground and they also teach you sex educatoon in class in America. I didn't really pay attention to that; it was to embarrassing.

NICK'S KIND OF GIRL
It doesn't really matter. Any kind. I'm not really particular. I like very down-to-earth, homely girls. Their personality is what I like best, a girl I can be friends with as well. It's sometimes good to have a girl with attitude but not too much. I don't like girls who give you lip.

NICK'S IDEAL DATE
Probably to hang out at the beach. I'd go at night, but I wouldn't skinny dip. No way! Or maybe go out on our boat on a moonlit night.
