"A shark took my dreamgirl! I dreamt that I was standin' on the deck of a big yacht. A girl came towards me, driving a fast motorboat, and we started to chat a little. It was somewhere on Bahamas and the water was crystal clear. Suddenly I saw a big, dark shaddow get closer and closer to the girl. A huge shark jumped out of the water and swalowed her in one piece! It was terrible!"

17-year old Nick from Backstreet Boys can't go nowhere without having female fans running after him. It's only in his bedroom that he can be on his own. That's the only place on earth where he doesn't have to think about how he looks. We took our chance and talked a little with Nick about the moments in the bedroom.
What does your bedroom really look like?

- Well, the first thing you notice when you get in there is that everything's made of wood. Both the walls and the floor. Thanks to my mum it's almost always clean and tidy. On the walls I have posters - mostly of basket- and baseballplayers. I love Michael Jordan and I have a poster of him which is almost in natural size. My bedclothes are green, that's my favourite color.

What do you wear when you sleep?

- Just boxershorts.

What kinda nightclothes do you think look best on girls?

- Girls in satin-pyjamases and silk-nighties look cool! Have you seen the cover of TLC's new album? Girls always look good in silk.

Do you sleep well?

- Like a baby… Although I had that nightmare the other night.

Are you always in a good mood when you wake up?

- I'm rarely ever peevish. You only need to shake me a little and I'm awake. Of all the Backstreet Boys Kev's the one who's worst in the mornings. We other guys draw lots about who's gonna have to get through the highly dangerous mission to wake him up.

Do you snore?

- No, none of the Backstreet Boys do. But when I sleep in the same room as the others they say that I talk in my sleep. I dunno if they're just kiddin' me or if it's true.

What is the last thing you do before you go to sleep?

- Brush my teeth. That's the first thing I do when I wake up too.

Do your parents tell you when to go to bed?

- No, they think I'm responsible enough to take care of that myself. Like, when we're touring and I have to get up early in the morning, I always go to bed pretty early but if there's a good party goin' on I can stay up later.

If you could have your bedroom just the way you wanted to, what would it look like?

- I've always wanted a jungle in my room. Loads of green tropical plants, aquariums, lianes and trees - really wild! You'd have cut to get to the bed. That would be cool!

Are you allowed to have girls in your room?

- Never, I wouldn't even ask my mom about it. It's a unwritten rule, and I think it's OK.

But if you'd like to show your room to some girl, who would it be?

-Well, right now I wouldn't like to show it to anybody, cuz it's such a mess in there, but if I would get it straight…hm….someone like Alicia Silverstone, someone who's about my age, so we can play Nintendo together or something.....
