Kaizen Flyer March Merry Meet All.... And a very warm welcome to all those receiving this for the first time!! INTRO Well, what an Up and Down sort of month! The low point must surely have been the shading of Stewart Farrar, who’ s teachings (together with that of Janet) must be responsible for at least 50% of my Wiccan Practices...does that make me a Farriarian Witch??... ..(sounds like something out of Star Trek or Deep Space Nine!!.. LOL) The high points are that Cerridwen's Retreat is working properly and that both our sites have been honoured with awards!! ============================================================================ == SITE NEWS We have started our own Awards program, with a set of 6 possible types, if you would like to apply or nominate a site please check them out....and PLEASE...if you apply or nominate someone read about Kerri first...we have had to discard several good sites that deserve awards because the 3 questions were not answered at all!! There will also be a permanent text link on my Site of the Month page showing previous winners. **************************************************************************** * ============================================================================ = As promised in an earlier issue I have attempted to speed up site navigation with the addition of a text link box on most main pages, and all slow loading graphics intensive pages, I can't remember who mentioned in their email about making site navigation easier but thank you for it anyway....I have reacted to your suggestion! Another section has just been started here called "Pagan Programs", Basically I spent hours and hours searching the web to collect shareware, freeware and bookware programs that you may find useful, Astrology programs, Herbal Healing Programs, Pagan Calenders, Moon Cycle Programs etc...if anyone has a favourite program they use and would like others to know about could they let me know please and I will include it as soon as I can in this section...Thanks ============================================================================ = CERRIDWEN'S RETREAT Merry Meet my friends. Kaizen and I have been putting our heads together recently to try and find more ways of making the Free Kerri appeal more widely known, and so gain support. Kaizen spent several hours over the weekend attempting to contact free pagan lawyers, unfortunately without much success. We are also in the process of contacting UK pagan/occult etc. magazines and flyers to let them know about Kerri. We would be grateful to anyone who feels that they would be able to do the same with similar publications in their area. Feel free to contact either Kaizen or myself if you wish to help in this or any other way, or have any ideas on how we can do more. A final note on Kerri: My good friend Gen gave me the idea of placing the url to the Free Kerri site onto our icq’s as homepages. Thanks Gen a great idea. I would personally like to thank Kat Magick for all her help in getting my site into working order, and thank you to all those who have gone to visit the site since. I’m so glad you can actually see it now. This month I have organised my herbal healing pages into alphabetic order rather than grouping them into categories. I hope that you will now find them a lot easier to navigate. I have also added a few pages about the way I practise the craft in an attempt to promote individuality and a different viewpoint. These pages, listed as ‘My Path’, include basic information on how to begin, empathy, chakras, healing and insight. I will also soon be adding pages on spells and rituals. I'm trying to write an article in my spare time that I am thinking of submitting to Pagan Dawn entitled 'The Virgin Mary: Isis of the Third Millennium?' and basically it will show the similarities between the two. Basically, are their any Pagans out there who used to be Catholic or who now revere Mother Mary as a form of the Goddess? If so, email me! I would be interested in hearing your opinions of what Mother Mary represents and how She is percieved by the Pagan/Wiccan community. "WOW!.. Go and check out Kaizen's site, it's really HOT, It's so COOL!!" Sorry people, but I'm either getting old, or I have failed to grasp the true meaning of the English language, but how can something be hot and cool at the same time!!...KIDS!! Talking of kids.... It's that time of the year again.. Spring!! The birds are making nests, the rabbits are frolicking in the meadows and looking forward to rampant sex in dark burrows (well the male rabbits anyway), and Lemmings are giving the bank manager the smug look that says "Hah!, Sucker, You ain't getting my loan repayed", and checking out the local high spots. So I thought now would be a good time to impart the Kaizen's Word's of Wisdom on picking a name for your new child, just in case the season frollicking by rabbits is infectious!! FIRST.....Pick a short-list of about 10 names that you might like to call the child. SECOND....Go to your back door, and scream each name 15 times as loud as you possibly can......This is how you will be hearing it for the next 16 years. THIRD.....Go back inside and pick 10 shorter names. Do not feel embarrassed doing this exercise.. the name of your child is important, it is with them for life....and WILL effect your tonsils for 16 years...SO GET IT RIGHT!...And as for the neighbours??.....SOD 'EM. In fact they will thank you for the advanced warning, it gives them plenty of time to decide to move house, and some, if they are very quick off the mark, may actually be gone before the happy event...because afterwards their house will be difficult to sell and devalue yearly, as the mad woman next door screams "Marmaduke Augustus Smythe-Wilkinson...WILL YOU GET IN!!" 25 times every night at 8 o'clock!! For the record....my witch name is KAIZEN "Japanese means "Continual Improvement", this is very similar to the name I called in the late 80's which was "KIDZEN" at 8 o'clock ever night!!....and means everything from "Please come in now darlings" to "When you finally appear I'm gonna rip yer arms and legs off", depending on pitch, volume, level of desperation etc. Do not worry that your child wont understand the multi meanings of your chosen summoning method, they, and the neighbours for 5 miles around ,will very quickly become fluent in advanced Japanese. Here in England the government throughout the 80's worried when exactly the Russians would invade, I can tell them now it was at 8 o clock on any week night, as ALL our advanced listening posts switched off at that time, to protect delicate equipment from the strangled cry of "KIDZEN" as it echoed across half of England...to compensate for the UK's lack of readiness all our armed forces were brought to full alert at 7.55pm to cover the shortfall, this was very tiring on the troops, and very expensive on the government coffers, and explains the high interest rates prevalent in the UK at that time. In fact, in 1986 I was struck down with laryngitis and couldn't speak above a whisper for 3 weeks, during that time I received 9 "Get Well Slowly" cards from various government departments, including the Bank of England, two thirds of the British Armed forces where finally given leave....... So you see , the correct choice of your child’s name has far reaching effects way beyond the immediate "trendy factor"!! ============================================================================ ADVICE TO NEW WITCHES When working sky-clad (naked to those who don't know, cos there maybe one or two non-pagans on this list!), pay VERY close attention the the candles as you carry them around your circle.....it is EXTREMELY difficult to look serene and God/Goddesslike as you pour 2 pints of molten wax over your genitals while leaning forward to light a quarter candle from your main candle......and trust me...you CANNOT cover the effected area with brown paper and use a hot iron to get the wax off...this only works on carpets!! ADVICE TO OLDER WITCHES Try not to laugh at the above...we were all neos once!! ============================================================================ Up until early this month our ISP was charging us $18 a month to provide toll free internet access between 20:00 hrs and 08:00 hrs every week day, and between 20:00 hrs Friday to 08:00 hrs Monday.(Times are G.M.T.) This appears to have been without the knowledge of the telephone line supplier. Consequently, our online bills have suddenly soared form approx. $150 per month to $700 per month. We are currently "discussing" this problem with all parties. Web site additions and improvements will of course continue, whenever one of us can find a quid behind the sofa. Meanwhile we are avidly working on changing our ISP.I have written this months Flyer entirely off line and uploaded it to my maillist server and sent it straight out, if the lines don't break at the right places please forgive me...but it looked OK on notepad!! Well that's about it..
