Two Sided Bow

Chapter 22

Mel Lam – Nick Cheung
Kathy Lau – Vivian Leung
Adriene “Addy” Lu – Jessica Hsuen
Don – Louis Koo
Kacy – Athena Chu
Roach – Jordan Chan

By the time Mel returned to his apartment, Kathy was well asleep in her room while Kacy slept on the sofa. A thought crossed his mind, he was about to wake her but noticed she was comfortable. Instead her moved into Kathy’s room. He sat down on a little wooden stool next to her bed and smiled when he thought about how happy he was to have found her.

But ever so slowly, his smile began to fade as he thought about what would happen very soon. The war with the Tiger gang was starting, there would only be one strong gang. Although he hoped that it would the Red Dragon, he was beginning to lose his self confidence. And sitting there with Kathy, he realized that her life would never be the same again. By choosing to be his girlfriend, she was defying everything about her average, ignorant life to be in his dangerous world.

Mel leaned closer as he kissed her on the cheek, he sat back with a sigh. He wanted nothing to happen to her, yet the more he pulled her in, the more her life would be in danger. There was only one way she would be able to live her life normal again, death. He already knew what he had to do.

*****************

The following day, Mel called the meeting when the guys began to pour in. Roach was chatting with Wong, his long time friend that he has not seen for ages. But in truth it had only been a few months. Mel nodded to Roach indicating that he was ready to start. Roach stood up and let out a sharp whistle from his lips. Mel smiled “Thanks, man.” He turned to the guys “Any rumors that you have heard about our war with the Tigers…is true.” He paused when there was stirring and whispering around the crowd. “I know this is going to be a life and death war. We all may fuckin die…and if you are not ready, I give you permission to leave right now.”

He looked around and the crowd grew silent, not one single person stood up to leave. Mel smiled proudly at his boys. They were all as loyal as he hoped “Good.” He nodded “I’m going to split you guys into three groups. That way, we’ll have them surrounded. I have a good source that tells me they will be doing a drug exchange on the City View mountain. Roach, Wong and myself will be leading the teams. Wong, I want you to be in charge of getting Janet the hell away from Luke.”

Wong nodded “Sure, Mel Gor.”

“Roach, I want you to stay on Luke’s tail when they start to drive up the mountain. I will be around the corner, give me a call and I’ll bring the rest of the guys there.” Mel concluded. He turned to the rest of the guys “This will take place tomorrow morning at 8am. Meet here at 7am…I never told any of you this…but…” he hesitated to say it but soon he saw Roach smiling at him and he knew he had to say it, it was his only chance now “I fuckin love you guys!!” the room exploded with roars and hurrays from the guys.

After the meeting disbursed, Mel took a long walk along the streets, he debated whether or not to tell Kathy. But in the end, he knew he didn’t have the heart to tell her that maybe he would not return after tomorrow. Mel’s eyes crossed a jewelry store as he had the urge to buy her something. When he came inside he found Snow trying on rings with Gary next to her smiling at each one she put on. Mel came close enough to hear their conversation “How about this one?” Snow asked, holding up her finger for Gary to see.

Gary smiled adoringly “They all look good, sweetheart. But we can only buy one.” He teased when she put on three into one finger.

Snow eventually claimed a round cut with tiny diamonds along the rim making the big center sparkle. “This one.” She exclaimed happily.

“You always had good taste.” Mel smiled contently. Happy to see that she had finally settled.

Snow looked up and her eyes brightened “Mel! What are you doing here?” suddenly her smile grew brighter “Do I dare to say? The all powerful player has found his girl?”

Gary stood up as he leaned over to shake Mel’s hand “So this is the popular Mel Gor that I’ve heard about.” He spoke coolly.

Mel nodded “Don’t believe everything you hear.”

“So, answer my question!” Snow said giddily.

He shrugged carelessly “Just walking around. But I do want to get her something.”

“When you did you fuckin turn into a woman?” she placed her hands on her hips. Gary shook his head as he tapped her on the shoulder. Snow turned and instantly covered her lips “Oh…sorry. I know, I have to put a hundred in the curse jar.”

Mel tilted his head strangely “Did I miss something?”

Snow laughed “I promised Gary that I would cut the cursing habit.”

Mel let out a humorous laugh “Snow? Not curse?? Well, now I’ve heard everything…” he shook his head and looked up at Gary “I’m glad you got her to stop. I never found girls cursing attractive.”

Snow rolled her eyes “Can’t you do anything else but talk about your girl?” she teased “Here, I’ll help you chose out something for her. A necklace?” her brows raised “Or a bracelet? Perhaps….dare I say…a ring?”

Mel smiled shortly “I want to do this myself, if you don’t mind.”

Her smile faded as she sensed something dark about his words. He seemed more sad or depressed about something. But being an ex-girlfriend she understood him well. He wanted time alone. Gary seem to sense it too “Come on, Snow…let’s give him some space.”

Mel looked up at Gary with a grateful smile “Thanks…” he began walking around the room and glancing at the different jewelry. He already knew what he wanted to buy.

That night Mel came back and found Kacy cooking with Kathy. The girls seemed to be getting along. He smiled at the irony of it all. The woman he loved was getting along with the woman he had to love. Kathy found Mel looking at them with a daze expression as she walked over to him “Hi Mel.”

Kacy frowned “Is something wrong?” she wondered.

Mel shook his head “No, nothing. What’s for dinner?” he changed the subject. That seemed to work since the girls began babbling about the crab and beef dishes they came up with together.

Throughout dinner, Kathy continued to get a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach. Mel was different that night, he seemed too out of it. It wasn’t like him. Plus he kept dodging Kacy’s looks when she would smile at him. After the dishes were cleared, Kathy returned to her room and she found Mel sitting on the edge of her bed. Kacy was outside watching television. Kathy felt uneasy as she turned to the living room and then back to Mel “She’s right outside.” She cautioned.

Mel shook his head “I don’t care.” He tapped the seat next to him “Come over here.”

Kathy let out a sigh “You know I can’t do that. She thinks we’re brother and sisters.”

“And I said…I don’t care.” His voice was deeper.

She finally gave in as she took a seat next to him and he automatically placed his arms around her waist. When she began squirming, he tightened the grip “Mel…” she began.

He shook his head and a small smile crossed his face “You’re so cute when you get all frustrated. I’m gonna miss that.”

Kathy pushed him away once and for all “Okay…no I know something’s wrong. What is it, Mel? Please tell me…you know I’ve never pushed to know what you do with your ‘business’, but I really have to know this time.” She begged.

He knew he didn’t have the heart to tell her as he leaned closer and hugged her roughly “Nothing is the matter.” He sighed into the nape of her neck and she felt a shiver run up her spine “I just love you too much…I’d do anything for you Kathy…you know that?”

She nodded as tears brimmed her eyes “Mel…you’re scaring me.”

Mel began to stroke her hair as he hushed her light cries “It’s okay…everything will be okay. We’ll have a normal life after all this is over.” Suddenly she tightened her hug on him and he could hear her sobbing lightly over his shoulder. He rocked her gently and they stayed that way for a while until she felt sleepy. “Can I stay with you until you fall asleep?” he asked.

Kathy nodded with a smile as she laid down comfortably “Of course.” He continued to stroke her face until she eventually closed her eyes. A single tear fell from his eyes, he couldn’t remember the last time he cried over a girl. “I’m so sorry, Katie. Please forgive me.” He pulled out a letter he wrote for her earlier and a little jewelry box as he placed it on the dresser drawer next to her bed. He turned off the lights and left her room.

The following morning, when Kathy woke up she found two extra things in her room. She reached over and took the letter. It was in a purple envelope and the scent was Mel’s cologne. She smiled at the thoughtfulness but soon realized it was probably bad news. She ripped it open as she began to read it:

“My Lovely Katie,

By the time you read this letter a full blown war has already began. I’m sorry I did not have the courage to tell you in person. I knew you would be devastated and the last thing I wanted to do was to make you cry. Somehow I always still manage to do just that.

I love you more than any other girl I have ever been with. Maybe that’s why I couldn’t tell you. I don’t want anything to happen to you and I feel responsible that I tore you away from your ignorant little world. Sometimes it’s okay to be a ignorant, I know that much now. I will always remember the innocent little Katie that I met so many years ago. You’ve matured and grown up in so many ways that you may not even know yourself. I don’t regret anything that we’ve done together and I certainly don’t regret falling for you.

I don’t know what’s going to happen after today. If I don’t return, remember that I love you and only want the best for you. Continue on with your life and never turn back. Remember to move on.

Love Always,
Mel Gor”

By the time she finished the letter, she was sobbing so hard that she had to cover her mouth to keep it from screaming out with frustration. She grew angry at the thought of Mel going off to fight and maybe he would not be able to return. She wanted more than anything to find him but she knew it was close to impossible. Who would know where he was? She looked down at the red velvet jewelry box in her lap. Her hands were shaking as she prepared to open it. Inside was a platinum ring with a huge diamond on it. Inside the inner circle, it was carved with the initials and a single word ‘ML/KL Promise’.

She closed the box, unable to look at the ring as she closed her eyes and sobbed openly. Kacy was outside when she heard crying, she walked by Kathy’s room and snuck her head in. She was hesitant to ask “Kathy?” she asked softly.

Kathy quickly wiped the tears as she looked up at Kacy “Yes?” her voice quivered.

“Is something the matter?” Kacy was concerned.

She shook her head unable to repeat anything Mel just wrote to her. “No…” suddenly her eyes brightened. She knew exactly who would know where Mel was. “I have to go…” Kathy got up and rushed to the restroom to clean up.

Kacy frowned “Where? Can I come along?”

Kathy stopped at the restroom door “I…don’t think it would be safe.”

“I don’t want to be stuck here all day. Please take me along. Maybe I can help?” Kacy offered.

The girl looked so earnest that Kathy found it hard to say no as she slowly nodded “Okay. Get dressed.” She ordered.

Chapter 23

Mel Lam – Nick Cheung
Kathy Lau – Vivian Leung
Adriene “Addy” Lu – Jessica Hsuen
Don – Louis Koo
Kacy – Athena Chu
Luke - Roger Kwok
Janet - Angie Cheung
Phil - Wong Hei
Roach – Jordan Chan

When the three teams were ready they stared with Wong’s team who’s main concern was for Janet’s safety. When they followed Luke up to the mountain, he had about three black cars following his white Lincoln. He was ready for anything, with his team of 100 men surrounding the area, there would be no one that could even touch him.

Down the mountain stood a tiny shack where machines and detecting devices computers were set up for the investigation team, which Gary was in charge of. “Anything yet?” Gary asked.

The guy watching every move of the gangster’s shook his head “Nope.”

“Keep watching. We’re gonna get them this time.” His eyes darkened.

Mel stood down the mountain waiting impatiently as he began smoking unconsciously. He wanted to get the day over with. He expected for them to be done in about an hour. Instead within 10 minutes, he received a call. It was Wong’s cell phone. “Yeah?” he answered shortly.

Instead of Wong’s familiar voice, a laughing sound came from it. Mel’s face instantly fell “Mel…well, looks like the mouse is in charge now. It’s never easy being the cat, isn’t it?” Luke’s teasing voice was like a knife cutting through his very soul.

“What the fuck do you want!!” Mel growled into the phone as he threw the cigarette to the ground and stomped on it.

“Oh nothing…just want to invite you up for a freak show.” Luke said with much humor. “How about I have my boys bring you up?” he laughed.

“Fuck you, Luke!” Mel cried “If you lay a hand on my boys…” he threatened.

Luke laughed even louder and abruptly he stopped “Aww…why didn’t you tell me sooner. They’re all dead…well, except for one. You’ll never guess what I fuckin found out…my so called girlfriend, Janet? Guess who was doing her 5 ½ years ago in Toronto?”

Mel closed his eyes as his worse nightmare had began, Luke found out about him and Janet “She’s innocent, leave her the fuck alone! If you want me, I’ll come up!!” Mel hung up the phone as he turned to his guys and waved them up. He gave Roach a call “He’s fucking got Wong and Janet. We have to go up.”

“Should we call for more reinforcements?” Roach asked as he gathered his own guys up.

When the guys reached the top of the mountain, it was like a bad dream. All 40 guys were slaughtered and the only ones left was Wong, who was near unconscious and Janet who was bruised from head to toe. She was tied from the hands and was kneeling on the ground. Luke sat on the trunk of the white Lincoln with his two feet hanging over the edge. A smirk on his face.

Roach clenched his fist together as he prepared to charge at the insane guy. Mel put up a hand to his chest to stop him “No…it’s not the time.” He whispered.

Luke let out a bored yawn as he took his feet and pushed at each of Janet and Wong’s head “Who to kill first? The bitch or the fuckin wannabe hero?”

Mel nodded with a snicker “You know what happens to a person that hurts any of my people?”

“No, tell me.” Luke said with amusement as he crossed his arms and smiled widely.

“Torture. By the time I’m done with you, you’d wish you were dead.” Mel threatened darkly.

Luke nodded understanding “Oh…I get it…so if I fuckin like kill him right now? You’ll somehow capture me and torture me?” he let out a laugh as he put up a hand and snapped his finger. One of the guys standing in the back walked up and handed him a big sharp knife. Janet began to whimper as she turned her eyes away, afraid of what would come next. “Did I tell I love torture?” Luke grinned crazily before pulling his knife back and then letting it rip into the back of Wong.

The guy let out a horrid cry as he fell to the ground painfully bleeding. Mel’s guys including Roach turned away as they could not witness such a cruel punishment on their friend. Mel instead stood there and forced himself to watch as much as he wanted to pull his eyes away. He wanted to watch, to remember everything that Luke did because he would pay it back to him 100 times worse. His fist clenched tightly “You’ll be sorry.” He teeth tightened.

Luke held his palm rounded behind his left ear “What? I didn’t hear that…did you say one more time?” again he gave Wong another stab as the guy let out another cry.

***********

At the stakeout, Gary was watching through his binoculars. He had to eventually turn away when Luke was stabbing at one of Mel’s boys. One of the other officers turned to Gary “Chan Sir, should we stop them?”

Gary shook his head “No…let them kill each other first.”

***************

Kathy raced to Mel’s bar but the whole place was closed down. How would she be able to find anyone that could help her. Kacy looked at the blocked door “What now?” she asked worriedly.

Maybe it was fate that they would run into Addy, who had a whole gang of guys behind her. Kathy recognized Don next to Addy “Do you know where Mel is?” she reached over and grabbed Addy by the arm.

The girl’s bodyguards reacted quickly as they began pushing Kathy back and one guy held her by the arm. Kacy came to her defense as she charged at the guy “Let her go!”

Another guy rushed over to Kacy and he too took a hold of her “Stop it!!” she cried while struggling.

Addy raised an eyebrow “What is this about?” she nodded to her boys and they quickly let go of Kathy and Kacy.

“Mel…he’s gone. He went somewhere and I think he’s not coming back…” Kathy choked back the tears.

Addy was immediately concerned “What the hell are you talking about, woman?” she turned up to Don, who was dodging her glances “You know something…” she pointed to him threateningly “Tell me now…” she ordered.

Don shook his head “Sorry Addy…I have firm orders from your father not to tell you anything.”

She widened her eyes “So you Do know something…Don, if you don’t tell me now…I’ll”

“You’ll what?” he smirked.

Addy frowned, she was stumped and then a smile came on her face “I’ll gag you up and throw you in the pool again!!” Don let out a laugh “Oh come on. Please tell me. Do you want Mel to die and leave Kathy a future widow??”

“What?” Kacy asked.

Kathy closed her eyes, it was not how she wanted it to come out “I’m sorry Kacy…I’m not his sister…I didn’t mean to lie to you.”

Kacy nodded with a small smile “I guessed it anyways. You guys seemed to calm to be brothers and sisters. Luke and I use to fight all the time.”

“Luke?” Addy asked with a frown.

“Yeah…he’s my brother.” Kacy explained. She frowned “I thought you guys knew. Mel knew.”

Suddenly Addy’s anger grew as she stepped over and towered over the petite girl “You are that mother fucker’s brother? That asshole that almost killed Mel?? What the fuck are you doing here anyways?” she pushed at Kacy angrily.

Kathy turned from one girl to the other “Stop…hey, can we stop our differences?” she stepped in between the girls and shielded Kacy “We have to find Mel before it’s too late.”

Don nodded “You’re right. I’m feeling uneasy…they should have called by now.” He turned to the other bodyguards “Call for backup.” A few of them stayed behind as the 8 of them rushed to City View Mountain.

****************

Luke gave Wong a total of 10 stabs before the guy felt limp to the ground in a pool of his own blood. Luke stood back and tossed the weapon aside “I was just starting to have fun.” He said with disappointment. But his interest returned when Janet began to sob silently, fear for her own life.

Mel’s eyes hardened “Don’t even fuckin think about it.”

“What?” Luke asked innocently as he stepped closer to Janet. “Have you ever heard of a gang rape?” Mel’s eyes widened at his words and Luke reached over and yanked Janet by the hair, pulling her upwards.

She whimpered in pain but followed his grasp upwards “Let her go…” Mel said calmly but coldly. He was waiting for the perfect time to attack.

Luke laughed as he leaned in and kissed Janet roughly on the lips, she tried to move away but he was too strong. When he finally stopped, he turned to his guys “All yours.” He pushed her behind and Phil caught her. “Phil why don’t you start.” He ordered.

Janet looked at Phil with wide eyes, she was pleading softly “No…please…”

“PHIL!!” Luke cried when the guy didn’t budge.

Phil shook his head back to reality as he slowly unbuckled his belt “Stop!!” A small cry came from the crowd behind Mel. Everyone’s eyes turned to the group that was racing up. Mel’s eyes only caught Kathy, who too was looking at him earnestly. He didn’t see Kacy running past him over to her brother. “Gor…please, don’t do this. You’ll go to jail.” Suddenly her eyes traveled to the dead body of Wong on the ground. She stepped back slowly “You…killed him?”

Luke was frustrated “Mui! Go home…why the hell did you come?”

Kacy shook her head “You have to stop. This is not right…God will punish you.” She began.

“Shut the fuck up!” he growled.

Mel turned to Addy and Don “Why the hell did you bring them up?” He asked Don angrily.

“Don’t be mad at him. I made him tell me.” Addy stepped up “How could you not tell me about this? Does father know?”

Mel turned away, dodging everyone’s glances. His main concern was for Kathy and Kacy to get out of that place. He walked closer to Kacy and placed a hand on her shoulder “He’s not your brother…he’s a madman, he’ll kill until he’s done with everyone.”

“What the hell are you touching my sister for!!” Luke cried as he launched towards Mel, who quickly dodged them. He turned to Roach who was ready to attack himself .

“Now!!” Mel cried. His boys took the order fast as they quickly attacked the Tigers. The whole place easily turned to chaos. Mel put one arm over Kacy and quickly reached for Janet as he pulled them over to where Don and Addy were. “Get them out of here.” He ordered.

His eyes turned looking for Kathy and found her hovering behind a tree. He rushed over to her “Katie, you need to get out now.” He ordered.

She shook her head with fresh tears “No…” she put up her hand and showed him the ring she was now wearing. “I belong to you…I’m not leaving.”

Mel knew he could not talk her out of it “Okay. Come on.” He grabbed her hand and rushed down the mountain to where Addy’s car was waiting. He pushed Kathy inside but instead of following her like she thought, he closed the door and pointed to Don who was driving “Go!!” he cried and instantly the car took off.

He saw Kathy struggling when she tried to open the door, he could almost hear her cries while the bodyguards held her back. Mel turned towards the fight as he pulled out his own pocket knife ready for the war. He raced up with a newfound vengeance. He was going after Luke and only Luke.

Chapter 24

Mel Lam – Nick Cheung
Kathy Lau – Vivian Leung
Adriene “Addy” Lu – Jessica Hsuen
Luke Cheung - Roger Kwok
Don – Louis Koo
Gary Chan – Marcos Ngai
Roach – Jordan Chan
Kacy - Athena Chu
Phil - Wong Hei

Mel raced back when he noticed Roach being attacked viciously by Luke. He kicked him straight on the back sending him flying to the ground. Suddenly from behind him, Phil wrapped an arm around his neck as the two began to wrestle. Then Roach found himself busy fighting off the guys that were coming to their Dai Lou’s defense. It left Phil and Luke to fight with Mel. “Doesn’t this look familiar?” Luke asked amusingly.

“Yes, but this time, you’re not going to live.” Mel growled.

“We’ll see.” Luke snickered as he charged at Mel with Phil by his side. The fighting grew more intense by the minute when all three guys were bruised. Mel gave a more tough fight this time around, never letting the two get a chance to kill him.

In the meantime, at the bottom of the mountain, Gary called for more backup when the fight turned violent. “Let’s go!” he ordered and raced out the door.

The three ended up wrestling too close to the cliff of the mountain. When Mel had the advantage, he threw a swing at Luke towards the cliff. Phil reached out and pulled Luke back in return he slipped on the edge. Mel instinctively reached out to save Phil instead he was pushed in the back by Luke causing the two to fall off. Phil was quick as he caught onto the edge rock and Mel was dangling on Phil’s leg that he caught on the way down.

“Mel Gor!!” Roach cried but he could not help Mel then, he was preoccupied with the flying daggers at his face.

Phil was hanging on for dear life as he looked up to Luke “Help me!” he cried.

Luke laughed with his head shaking “Help you? Why should I? You’re just my dog! Just someone I picked up from the street. What the fuck have you done for me?”

Phil widened his eyes angrily “I’ve been loyal to you for fuckin 5 years!! Isn’t that worth shit??”

“Yeah…it’s worth shit.” Luke grumbled before placing his shoe over Phil’s hand as he twisted the shoe into the already injured hand. Phil cried out in pain while Luke laughed at his misery. Within seconds, Phil could not hold on as he eventually let go and the two came tumbling down the rocky cliff.

Luke turned and his next victim was Roach. But before he had the chance to do anything a gunshot rang out causing an echo against the sky. Everyone seem to stop in their place and looked around. They found Gary as well as other groups of cops pointing guns at everyone. “Don’t move!!” he cautioned.

He could see at the corner of his eyes that Luke was giving his boy signals. Suddenly a group of them began running in all directions. Gary had his eyes on Luke as he tried to use his boys as a diversion. He aimed his gun to perfection and pulled the trigger. The shot ran straight into Luke’s left leg as the guy fell to the ground in pain. Gary walked over to him with the gun aimed to his head.

**************

Back at Addy’s home, it took Don and two other guys to subdue the hysterical Kathy, who gave up a good fight. Addy opened the door to her room upstairs where the guys led Kathy. “Put her in here.” Don did as he was told and they quickly closed the door and Addy locked it from outside.

“Let me out!!!” Kathy cried angrily “Please, Addy!! I have to see Mel!!! Please….” Her sobbing began and Addy could no longer take it as they walked back downstairs where Kacy was.

“That’s not necessary.” Kacy said calmly.

Addy narrowed her eyes “What the fuck do you know. We’re doing it for her own good. Mel would be thankful.” She turned to Don “Please kick her out, I don’t want to see her face.”

Don frowned “I’m afraid I can’t do that.”

“Why?” Addy stopped in her steps and turned to Don.

“Your father’s orders.” Don replied.

Addy shook her head stubbornly “I don’t care what my father said. I’m your boss and I say get her the hell out of my house!!!”

“Addy…” a firm voice spoke up.

She turned and found her father at the entrance of the house “Daddy…” she looked away guiltily.

“Cheung Gor.” The guys greeted him respectfully.

“Why should she stay?” Addy began “She’s Luke’s sister, she’s on their side.”

“No I’m not!” Kacy cried in her own defense “I don’t want to know what’s happening. Don’t worry, I only came to watch after Kathy. But if I’m not welcomed, I will leave.” She began walking and Cheung Gor quickly blocked her way.

“You can’t leave.” He ordered “Do you even know why there was a fight today?” Kacy turned away without replying “Your father is in the hospital on his death bed and his son decides to throw away the friendship our two gangs have build for the past two decades because he wants to be on top. Things are not as simple as they appear.”

Kacy frowned “What does that have to do with me?”

Cheung Gor smile “I think you already know. You can stop this war…”

“How?” her eyes turned up. If she knew she would not have watched that brutal scene before.

“Your father. He’s told me numerous times on how much he loved his only daughter. She was so much like him in so many ways. He regret ever letting you run away. He’s sent Luke to find you but each time he got close, you got away. You can stop all this fighting from just one request to your father. Change the will. Currently everything is left with Luke. If he leaves it to you, you will become the heir of everything he’s owned…including the Tiger gang.”

“I can’t run a gang.” Kacy argued.

Cheung Gor smiled “No one said you had to. The gang lives because of the boss. If you disburse it, there will be nothing to run.”

The wise man had a point and she wanted more than anything for the fighting to stop. She wanted Mel safe and return to Kathy where he belonged. She eventually nodded “You’re right.” She said firmly “Can you take me to my father?”

The elder man smiled graciously “Thank you.” He waved to his driver “Take Miss Kacy to Yan Sum Hospital.”

“Yes Sir.” The man held out a hand for Kacy to go first. She gave a short smile before leaving the huge mansion.

“Well, I’m glad that’s over with.” Addy broke the silence when her dad looked at her sternly. “Let’s go get Mel Gor.” She said brightly and began walking away.

“Addy!” her father halted her with his powerful voice “That won’t be necessary.” She turned to him questioningly “If I’m not wrong, the cops are already there.”

Her eyes widened fearfully “What will happen to Mel Gor? And Roach?”

“That’s not of your concern.” The man said firmly “Do not leave this house without my permission.” He turned to Don “You’re in charge.” He turned and began to leave.

“Daddy!! Daddy!!!” Addy cried as she tried to chase after him but Don knew his place as he held her back. She stomped a boot on his foot causing him to loosen his grip “Don’t ever touch me again!!”

Don sighed as he tilted his head and grinned menacingly at her. He pulled out his index finger and poked at her on the shoulder. “I just did.”

Addy looked down at his finger as she snapped at it and yanked it backwards “How does that feel?!!!” she cried while he kneeled down and his back arched up in pain.

“It …feels wond...erful….” he grumbled and still managed to let out a laugh.

She quickly let go and stomped her way over to the sofa “You sick bastard.”

Don laughed as he stood up and walked over to her “Thank you…I didn’t know you could give compliments.” He leaned over the back of the sofa and were inches from her face “Come on, torture me some more…you know you like it.” He whispered.

Addy moved her seat away as she turned away “Psycho.” She muttered under her breath.

***************

When the cops had enough questioning, they only decided to keep the head there. Luke was held back for questioning and he did not want to cooperate. In the end, they were able to charge him with murder on a young male by the name of Wong. It was caught on tape and he was put in jail until his hearing came out.

Roach and the other guys were bandaged and questioned eventually. Gary decided to let him and the other guys go with a small charge of assault and battery. They were able to leave with a bail, in which Cheung Gor had already paid. Cheung Gor escorted Roach back to his home where he would be staying until the news of the fight slowed down.

Addy smiled when she saw him come back with cuts and bruises but nothing worth worrying about “Roach! Where’s Mel Gor?” she asked brightly.

Roach looked around for Kathy but didn’t see her around “Where is she?” he asked.

Addy rolled her eyes and crossed her hand as she turned away “Is that all he cares about?”

Don laughed “She’s upstairs.” He answered.

“Could you get her?” Roach asked solemnly.

Don frowned as he caught the seriousness of his tone “Sure.” He raced up the steps and unlocked the room. He found Kathy sitting on the ground, her face smeared with tears and she looked exhausted. ”Come on.” He said as he reached out a hand to help her up. He supported her down the stairs and onto the couch where everyone was sitting.

Roach gave her a grim smile but Kathy could already read his face “You okay?” he asked. It was a dumb question but he didn’t know what else to say. Kathy shrugged absentmindedly “I’m afraid I have some fucked up news.” Everyone looked at him with earnest eyes “I think Mel Gor is dead.”

Addy gasped as she reached over and grabbed Roach by the collar “What the hell did you just say??!!”

Cheung Gor looked worried “Are you sure?”

Roach nodded grimly “When Mel Gor was fighting with Phil and Luke, they were too close to the cliff. The last thing I saw was Luke pushing his own guy down the mountain…because Mel was hanging on Phil’s leg.”

Addy shook her head in disbelief “No…it can’t be.”

But his main concern was for Kathy “Are you okay?” he asked the girl that was silent for most of the time.

Kathy stood up with a dazed expression. She took a few steps towards the door and felt her stomach go queasy while her legs gave way and she fell limply to the wooden floors. The last noise she heard was someone calling her name but she didn’t care, it wasn’t Mel.

She was rushed to the hospital where the doctors diagnosed her with temporary shock. Whatever news was given to her was too much for her emotional mind to handle. Her faced was dazed and her eyes were distant. Addy looked at her worriedly “Kathy…say something.” She urged.

Don shook his head “She’s out.”

Addy turned and whacked him across the chest “Stop saying that!! She’ll be okay.”

Suddenly the curtains of the emergency section opened and appeared Snow. She looked at Don and then one look at Kathy and her heart sunk “Kathy!” she raced over to her friend and called her name numerous times but Kathy remained in a blurred stage. “What’s wrong with her?” she asked.

“Shock…what does it look like?” Addy said sarcastically.

Snow did not take it in offense as she turned back to Kathy “I’m sorry….” She cried openly as she hugged her friend. Still Kathy did not respond to anything or anyone. She looked like a mummy with her eyes glossy and her face dazed.

“She’s like a walking corpse.” Don whispered.

Snow turned angrily to her brother “Shut up!! Get the fuck out!!” she pushed him away while Addy widened her eyes.

“Dude, you don’t need to get all violent.” Addy spoke up in Don’s defense.

“You get out too!!” she pushed at Addy as she stumbled back into Don’s arms. Snow’s chest was heaving angrily “Get out!!!” she cried one last time. Her heart nearly stopped when she felt a hand on her shoulder. It belonged to Kathy who was patting her. Yet she still didn’t say anything. Instead she walked out of the hospital aimlessly. Snow turned to the two with an evil glare and rushed after Kathy to make sure she made it home safely.
