SCHOOL POLICIES
The policies mentioned here are subject to change and therefore you are advised to consult the school for the latest.
ATTENDANCE
The ONLY reason pupils should miss school is if they are too ill to attend
. If this should happen you are required to contact the school before 9:30 a.m. on the first day of your daughter's absence and she must bring a letter to school on her return to confirm the reason for absence. Failure to do so will result in formal procedures to take place. If your daughter is absent from school without notification then the school will ring home on the same day to enquire about her absence. In the case of frequent illness a medical certificate will be requested. In any other circumstances the absences will be concluded as
unauthorised unless permission is sought from the school in advance. Unauthorised absences go on the pupil's record.By law, it is the school who authorises the absences, not the parents
.
SCHOOL FEES
The fees for the academic year 1999 - 2000 are as follows: -
First Child : £ 2000 per annum
Second Child : £ 1700 per annum
Third Child and any siblings thereafter : £ 1600 per annum
Fees must be paid by Standing Order. The fee may be paid in 3 equal instalments or 10 monthly equal instalments. Payments by cheque and cash may be allowed in exceptional cases only, by agreement from the Head Teacher.
HOMEWORK
Homework is set for all pupils in accordance with the published homework timetable. This is collected during morning registration on the following day. Each pupil will normally be given 3 homeworks per evening and is expected to spend between 30 - 45 minutes per subject.
All homework assignments should be entered by pupils in their homework diaries. This diary is a four-way communication, between pupil, parent, form-tutor and subject teacher. Parents and form-tutors are expected to sign the diary each week and make comments if necessary.
BEHAVIOUR
Mature, responsible and respectful Islamic behaviour is expected. Pupils are encouraged to be polite, have good manners and show care for the school and its community. To promote this the school has a code of conduct.
Extreme or persistent cases of misconduct, for example physical abuse, may result in exclusion.
QURAN POLICY
The teaching and learning of Quran is a fundamental part of the curriculum. All pupils take a written and oral examination at the end of the year to assess their understanding and recitation. The pass rate is 40% for each examination. Any pupil not achieving this level will have to re-sit the exam in July. If any pupil does not pass the reset examination then her position in school is reviewed.
REWARD SYSTEM
Pupils are rewarded by merits for outstanding work, consistently good work and also for effort and behaviour. The merits are counted at the end of each week and the year group with the most merits is announced. Individual pupils are also recognised by the awarding of merit certificates, badges and prizes for achieving 10, 25, 50, 100,150, 200 merits etc.
Demerits are given to pupils for misbehaviour, not bringing homework, poor punctuality etc. Persistent demerits result in sanctions and may be excluded from the
End of Year Reward Trip.
