A new conglomerate has been formed in the entertainment industry and
quiet as it¹s kept, Ruff Ryder Entertainment (RRE) is riding hard and
fast to the top of the industry mountain. Formed three years ago by
multitalented siblings Joaquin "WAAH" Dean, Darrin Dean, and
Chivon Dean RRE has trampled the competition with its innovation and
fearlessness.
Known primarily for its successful record
label, Ruff Ryder records, with hit artists such as DMX, RRE has
recently started a new division Ruff Ryder Film and Video. (RRF&V).
RRF&V was established to give the world the real deal on life in the
streets through the medium of film. The company plans to release films
that tell of real life experiences‹directed through the eyes of people
who have lived those experiences. With a half dozen talented directors
saddled to the company, look for the RRF&V posse to fill a void in
the film industry, just as they have in the music industry. With over a
dozen completed scripts already, RRF&V plans to use sensual
cinematography combined with edgy story lines filled with action, drama,
honor, and heart. "We are gonna give it to them like it is",
says Joaquin. "We know what the film industry is missing and with
the use of our talented directors, we will set it off".
As Ruff Ryder Film & Video pushes to expand
its already well established Film Company, look for innovative music
videos, as well. In fact, combining the record label and RRF&V, Ruff
Ryder Entertainment will become a one-stop shop for entertainment. To
ensure that the music on each film will coincide with the story lines,
the label will kick out a soundtrack to compliment every film. Along
with the soundtrack will come hot videos guaranteed to attract
attention. The inspiration for the name "Ruff Ryder" was taken
from an old western featuring African-American cowboys. The film tells
the story of the cowboy¹s struggle for independence and territory. RRE
has maintained the integrity of that struggle through hard work, sweat,
and some serious hustling. On the music industry side, their debut
artist, rapper DMX became the top selling rapper of all time. DMX¹s
first album ŒIt¹s Dark and Hell Is Hot¹ sold over four million copies
within the first three months of its release. DMX also made history by
being the first rapper to have two albums at the top of the charts
simultaneously.
The History making has just begun for Ruff
Ryder Entertainment, Ruff Ryder Records and Ruff Ryder Film and Video.
As the Black Stallions of entertainment, the Dean brothers and Rough
Ryder Entertainment are in a position to ride roughshod through the
entertainment industry producing music and film for the next millennium.
BISHOP Bishop¹s directional experience comes
from his participation on his cousin¹s production company based out of
California. Bishop¹s inspiration for starting in the film industry
actually came from his cousin. Growing up with the Ruff Ryder family,
Bishop often collaborated with Joaquin and Darrin Dean on scripts that
are related to their growing experiences. Bishop has developed his sharp
writing skills over the past fifteen years and is now ready to produce
and direct his own works. Bishop has already made his debut with two
music videos, DMX¹s ŒSlippin and No Love for Me¹ and simultaneously
holds the position as General Manager at Ruff Ryder Film & Video.
Jesses Smith Jesses Smith comes to the Ruff Ryder
Family by way of his previous experience and education at UCLA. After
majoring in communications with a minor in film, Smith quickly got his
feet wet behind the camera and immediately wrote and shopped his video
treatments to labels. Smith has since directed over a dozen music videos
for famous artists such as Najee, rapper Kool G Rap, and rap group
Ghetto Mafia. His work has since won the attention from video magnate,
Hype Williams and Smith was able to work as a Production Assistant on
the movie "Belly". Scouted by Ruff Ryder Executive, Joaquin
Dean, Smith was soon after signed on to RRF&V as a premier director.
He has since directed The Ruff Ryder Anthem video and is currently
prepping for his first feature film called ŒSpecial Report¹.
Phenomenon Phenomenon comes to the Ruff Ryder family
by way of his choreography experience. After working as the
choreographer for artists such as MC Brains, Stinky Dink, Ruggid,
R&B singer Mya, and R&B crooner Ginuwine Phenomenon decided to
explore the production side to film and video. Carefully planting the
seeds to his success, Phenomenon continued his choreography while
writing treatments for videos and a script. His big break came not long
after deciding to cross over into production. He has since signed to RRF&V
and will soon kick out his first directed video entitled ŒDown Bottom¹
along with Joaquin Dean and Bishop.
Sye Dean, Vice President Sye Dean is not only a
family member of the Dean posse, but a talented and gifted businessman
as well. Dean comes to Ruff Ryder Film & Video through his
experience of working behind the scenes on the production of the film ŒJuice¹
alongside Directors Ernest Dickerson and Dale Watkins. Dean attended
college in Daytona Florida where he majored in Television and Film. Upon
his completion from school, Sye started writing his own scripts and soon
joined forces with Ruff Ryder Film & Video.
Carolina Minier, Administrative Director of RRF&V
Carolina Minier comes to Ruff Ryder Film & Video by way of Penalty
records as their head of Video Production and Video promotion. She also
worked as the head of video promotions for an independent film company
called Round the Globe Music. Minier¹s combined experience as a
lighting designer and executive producer has proven to be a true asset
to Ruff Ryder film & Video. Minier has worked on the production team
for movies such as ŒFried Green Tomatoes¹, ŒMalcom X¹,¹Zebra Head¹,
and countless other videos.
