This contest does not appear close at all. The closest contest was the first one, when the Longhorns did only complete 3 passes. Derwin Phillips, the league's leading rusher gained 489 of his 1,004 yards in these games. The Sault must hope that the 'Horns are too full of themselves and get an lead and hope to hang on.

SEMI-FINAL No. 2 Sudbury Spartans at Markham Raiders 7:30pm
( at Centennial Park - Markham )
Season Series : June 19 Sudbury 13 at Markham 28
July 17 Markham 37 at Sudbury 06
July 31 Markham 14 at Sudbury 21
Sudbury has been competitive in 2 of the 3 tilts. The key to victory last Saturday ( July 31 ) was Sudbury running a ball control offence that kept the Markham offence on the sidelines for most of the second half. Markham's outstanding receiver Gifford Rose did not play in the game. Markham will look to shut down Spartan receiver Dave St. Amour. Sudbury's defence must also stutdown the Markham ground game and be wary of any of several Markham offence weapons such as Martin Lesmond, Emerson Meyer and Hollis Huggins.

Season Series : June 12 Oakville 21 at Markham 12
July 17 Markham 06 at Oakville 21
July 31 Oakville 13 at Markham 14
As the statistical comparison shows, this game will not have a great amount of offence. In their last two championship meetings, Oakville prevailed 34-4 in 1997 and 23-16 in overtime last year. Markham's win over the 'Horns on July 24th was the first ever for the raiders since they enter the League in 1992. Markham has shown a good spread on offence with a fairly even distridution of pass and run, Oakville has been a run oriented team this season. In their second game, Oakville had two fumble recoveries for touchdowns. Derwin Phillips did not have as easy a time in games veries the Raiders, picking up only 111 yards in the three contests. Markham is sekking their first title while Oakville is looking to earn their seventh consecutive crown and tenth in club history.
