Stay, Go, Stay, Go...Where, Yes or No. No, the North Bay
Bulldogs have returned to the NFC, again, after
leaving in after the 1997 season, which was their first
after being absent from the league in 1996. Funny, this
kind of consistency coming from a team that was
originally a charter member. In 1954, the Original Four:
Kirkland Lake Alouettes, Sudbury Hardrocks and Tri-Town
(Cobalt, Haileybury, New Liskeard) Raiders had included
North Bay Roughriders, who had actually started the
NORFU with exhibition games them and Sudbury but by the
1980 season, the North Bay team change its name to the
Northmen who would later ceased operations after the
1982 season. But no fear, by 1991, the Brampton Bulldogs
moved to North Bay. Bringing us to the last leave of
absence 1996 season. They did come back to Rollie
Fischer Stadium with President/G.M. Richard Begin
beginning the season with Head Coach Paul Condon and the
Blue, Gold and White going 5-5, 3rd place of 6, and
losing to the Toronto Eagles in the semis.
