Must be the most mysterious team in NFC history,
the Peterbourough Packers are a team you either really
hate or you honestly love. This franchise was
the youngest member, entering in the 1997
expansion, but the Green, Gold and White didn't
get much luck from T.A. Scott H.S. Grounds, where
they finished the season 3-7 in 4th place, the
Soo saving them last. Yet, that still wasn't
enough for the post-season. The Packer found some
luck in their 1998 campaign but a 5-2 record, 3rd
place finish and semi-final loss to the Raiders
wasn't good enough and Peterborough ceased
operations before the 1999 season to competed in
the American Football Association's New York
Football League but the team's executive itself,
with Will Thompson and Jerry Peters seemingly
sharing and swapping the spots of President,
General Manager, Head Coach and even player, didn't
seem to keep up organization and clean up house and
often got into bitter fights with other teams, rivalries they
had no business making, something other teams like
the Longhorns learned the hard way. Also, for
those interested, the Oshawa Packers, led by coach/player
Thompson, went 5-5, a fourth pace of that league's 6, and lost to
the Irondequoit Sting, eventual champs, in semi.
