Actresses to appear at court on obscenity charge

A Mumbai court ordered leading film actresses -- Madhuri Dixit, Karisma Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Raveena Tandon, Tabu and Mamta Kulkarni -- to appear in person on February 16 next in a case of alleged obscenity filed against them. Hearing a complaint filed by Archana Ben, a resident of Baroda, the metropolitan magistrate Mohan Puranik warned that if they failed to appear in person on that day, non-bailable warrants would be issued against them. The complaint was initially filed in the court of judicial magistrate first class at Baroda for offence under section 292 IPC (obscenity). However, one of the stars moved the Supreme Court for quashing the complaint. The apex court ordered the transfer of case to Mumbai on the jurisdiction issue. The complainant alleged that the actresses had acted in an obscene manner in songs whose numbers were also not in keeping with decent langauage and good taste. The complainant quoted songs from films "Raja Babu", "Vijay Path" and "Khalnayak" to drive home her allegations about obscene wordings and gestures. >

Madhuri signs more movies

Madhuri fans can heave a fewer sighs. Their fave heroine has signed two more films with two new directors besides the three that are already on hand - Pukar, Gajagamini and Engineer. So for the time being she's here to stay. Besides shuffling between the States and good ol' Bombay Madhuri is going to be more than busy with all these films, unlike what most people thought that marriage would steal her away from tinsel town. Looks like she is gonna prove them all wrong.
