Chapter 10
Nick Cheung – Andy ChuJulie didn’t even get a chance to sit down at her desk when Leo paged for her. She knocked on the door and his voice answered sternly “Come in.”
She peeked through and when he waved for her, she walked in with a fake smile “Yes, Mr. Fung?”
He seemed restless and almost uneasy, the first time she’s seen him that way. “I need you to call an emergency meeting for all the secretaries to come up this minute.”
She raised her eyebrows questioningly “What’s the rush?”
Leo let out a frustrated sigh and she quickly regretted asking him “Do I have to report everything to you now?”
Julie remained calm as she replied “With all due respect, Mr. Fung, it is not ethical to pull people from their daily work with no reason in particular. I heard from Leann that your father would disapprove of such actions from an employer.” Her voice was cool but there was a touch of threaten in it that he sensed. He knew his sister liked the girl, that’s why she was able to work for him for so long. Personally, he would only want one thing from her that he could not get. But in due time…
Leo brought back the debonaire smile that he knew so well “There is no need for threats, Jules.” She cringed at the nickname he gave her when she began working with him, she hated that name coming from his mouth.
“Please, don’t call me that.” She said firmly.
He laughed and nodded “Awww, yes, you did not like it when I first called you that. For some reason I found it adorable.” Her eyes hardened for she knew that he had found out why “Right, your father use to call you that didn’t he?”
“Yes.” She replied shortly.
“Well, send out a mass email telling everyone that we have an important guest coming in about an hour and he has requested to meet all the secretaries.” His voice was calmer and softer than before. She smiled knowing that she had hit the soft spot.
“Gladly.” Julie nodded and walked out leaving him fuming at his own anger.
Within 10 minutes, she had gathered every secretary there was in the building. There were approximately 76, including herself of course. The group piled in the large conference room, everyone had a seat while they waited eagerly for Leo’s announcement.
Leann who also soon joined the meeting was a bit surprised at his brother’s action, it couldn’t be her father coming to visit, he would have called her. It must have been someone more important than she thought. She took a seat in the front next to Julie, the girls nodded in greeting before giving Leo their undivided attention.
“I’m sure you all are still wondering who this important guest is. Well, if I said he was the CEO of World of Toys, Inc. Anthony Lung what would you say?” he raised his eyebrow at the muffling crowd. They began to talk amongst themselves. “He will be working in our building for the next three months, we are working on a partnership with his company it would be wise to be respectful to this man. He is requesting to borrow a secretary from our company to assist him with the files. One of you will be the lucky one that he chooses, I hope you will not make our company lose any valuable reputation.” Leo glanced at his watch “He should be arriving soon. Just a few rules, be polite, smile and do not answer if you are not asked a question. Got that people?” he asked.
The group nodded and some replied. Leann turned to Julie “I wonder why he wanted to see us all?”
Julie shrugged her shoulders “Maybe it’s about the project you were working on this morning?”
Leann’s eyes brightened “That’s true! Gosh, I’m so naïve when it comes to putting clues together.” She laughed at herself “Maybe he wants to find some personal secretaries to help him with the files?” she wondered out loud.
Julie nodded as they trailed behind the crowd, they piled into another room, this one was a lot bigger and it looked like a special office especially built for Anthony Lung. “Looks like he might be staying?” she said to Leann while Leo showed where everyone was to stand. Leann stood in the front of the line while Julie stood next to her.
Leo quickly held up a hand to silence the crowd as the important guest finally arrived. He walked in with a powerful demeanor. A presence that said he was in charge. He didn’t bother looking at Leo as he walked down the line looking at each and every secretary. This time Julie had a better look at the man that she thought was identical to Andy. The sideburns to his hair was gray and he wore rimless glasses that made him look important. His voice was as deep as she remembered “If Mr. Fung has not warned you about me, I am Anthony Lung. You can call me Tony or Mr. Lung, of course I prefer Tony since it makes me sound younger.” His joke wasn’t funny but the crowd burst into chuckles making it seem funny.
Julie on the other hand did not crack as smile while Leann knew better than to be rude so she laughed softly. Leo threw Julie a look when he saw Anthony’s head turned to his precious secretary. The four men that followed him inside walked over in front of the girl, their hands in their pockets ready to pull out something. Leo quickly put up a hand “Mr. Lung, please forgive her. She is new here.” He did what he could to help her out knowing that Anthony was not a man you wanted to be rude to.
Anthony waved his hand and the men quickly retreated, he walked over to Julie and looked down at her haughtily “What is your name?”
Julie looked up, there was not a bit of fear in her eyes “Julie.”
He nodded “Pretty name for a girl that will no longer exist in a minute.”
Leann looked up at her brother for help, she was worried for Julie “Mr. Lung, I’m sure she did not mean to be rude…” she was silence with his hand pointed to her.
“Miss Fung, this is not your place to speak up!” the elder man roared angrily. He turned back to Julie “I do not like women who do not recognize the importance of a dominant figure.” He said straightforwardly.
Julie didn’t blink as she replied “I do not find men that walk around thinking they are some kind of God are any least bit dominant over a low pay secretary.”
“Julie!” Leo cried with anger “Apologize this minute!” he commanded.
Julie glared at Leo but her eyes softened a bit when she turned back to Anthony “I’m-”
She was surprised when he burst out laughing, clapping his hands humorously “I like this girl.” He proclaimed to Leo.
Leo’s face softened “I’m glad to hear that. But she is actually my secretary.”
By this time Julie was more than confused, not sure what they were talking about. Maybe Anthony sensed the questioning eyes as he turned to Julie “How would you like to assist me for the next three months?”
Julie glanced at Leo, who’s eyes turned ice cold as he looked at the man which didn’t care what he had to say “I…I don’t know what to say.” She said quietly.
Anthony smiled as he turned to Leo, who’s face quickly turned back into a smile “I’m sure Mr. Fung would not mind me borrowing his precious secretary would he now?” it was more of a command than a question.
Leo smiled but his resentment showed in his voice “Of course not. You are welcome to anything and anyone that can assist you. But I must warn you, Julie is a new employee, she does not know much about the files in our company.”
Anthony only waved his hand carelessly “It’s not about experience, it’s about knowledge of material.” He looked down at Julie with a grin that gave her chills up her spine “Ms. Julie looks like she knows more than she ever learned. If you don’t mind, I’d like to get acquainted to my new secretary.” He said to Leo.
Leo waved his hand for everyone to leave, Leann lingered behind but her brother nodded for her to leave. She turned and glanced at the worried looking Julie before leaving. “Can I have a word with her before she starts her work with you?” he asked politely.
The distinguished man nodded “Of course.”
Julie followed Leo back to his office “Close door.” He commanded after Julie walked in. “Sound proof walls.” He turned while Julie looked around the room where the glass walls were thickened. “Julie, that man is very dangerous. I wanted to warn you to be careful of him. He is a very powerful man, he can wipe you out of existence with a snap of the finger.”
Julie smiled grimly “I can see that.” She shrugged her shoulders “I didn’t know you cared.”
Leo smiled sweetly thinking that she was finally falling for him, he inched closer to her, his hand sweeping softly against her cheek. A move she found annoying the first time he started doing it. “Of course I care, you’re MY girl.” He pointed out purposely.
Her smile faded “No.” she shook her head “As much as you want it to happen, I will NEVER…” she looked at him straight in the eye “and I do mean never…be your girl.”
His face moved closer to her own face, his lips aiming for her own but she twisted her head to the side and he kissed her cheek instead. His breath was hot as he threatened “You will be one day…”
He said it with so much confidence that it scared her for the first time being alone with him “I should get back to Mr. Lung before he kills someone.” Sarcasm written all over her words.
Leo nodded as he reached up and touched her hair as his fingers weaved through the soft strands “Just be careful.”
She felt him leaving something behind in her hair as she walked out the room. She didn’t know if it was a camera or just a wireless microphone. Knowing Leo, he would probably have a bomb ready to detonate if she tried to take it off. Her only chance was to have Will remove it since he was better at decoding bombs.
Anthony seemed to have noticed something different about her because he waved for his people to go “Leave us.” He commanded. The men left without questions.
“Shall we start?” Julie asked with a plastered smile that he easily saw through.
“Wait.” He pointed for her to stand still as he walked over, taking slow steps around her as he observed her. He reached for her face, his eyes digging into her own like he was trying to read her mind. A slow smile crossed his face when she widened her eyes, finally seeing Andy’s eyes. She opened her mouth only to be covered by his hands. He shook his head “Julie, I’m sure we’re on a first name basis now.” He walked back to his chair as he sat down comfortably. “I don’t want to waste any time with nonsense. You can start by getting the last ten years of Toys Domination’s biggest files. We can go over it one at a time. Remember, one false move and I will have you erased.” His threats were nothing to her now.
She cleared her throat while wiping the smile off her face “Yes, sir.”
******************
Throughout the day, Leo would be in his office observing the sound of the voices
coming from his computer. He placed a tapping device in Julie’s hair. It clung
onto a few strands of hair and was able to trace every sound and movement of her
within a mile. He had nothing to fear from the powerful CEO. The man seemed more
interested in the business than in Julie.
Back in CEO’s new office, Julie was busy finding the files for him, while he looked through every file for information that would help him figure out how to stop the man made machines. He knew the answers to his questions could be in those files. “Julie.” Andy called her over.
She quickly dropped the file clear chip in her hand as she paced herself over to his desk “Yes, Mr. Lung?” her smile teasing as she said his fake name.
“Can you set up a file for these sale numbers? I want to be able to look at all of them at the same time.” He asked as he gave her a wink of the eye.
She knew he was trying to distract Leo’s attention. “Sure.” She replied. Julie watched as he pulled up his watch and pushed a tiny button on the left side. The clear round top folded upwards as it flashed at the files before him. He was taking as much information on the files as he can.
Chapter 11
Nick Cheung - Andy ChuAndy and Julie continued with more files throughout the whole day. They were able to get a lot of information but none related to the machines that lurked underneath the building. Julie was especially quiet when it was time to leave. Andy instantly noticed “Something wrong?”
She put up her finger to her lips, reminding him of the homing device that was tapped on her hair. “Nothing. I’m not feeling too good.”
He nodded “Do you need a ride home?”
Julie smiled “That would be nice.” One her way down she caught Cass and Will talking. She quickly shook her head indicating for them not to talk to her. Will understood after working with her for so long. His eyes wandered over to the well distinguished looking man and his four bodyguards behind looking intimidating.
Cass looked strangely at the group “Uh…Will and I were talking about dinner…we wanted to try this new sushi place…” she let her words fade when Andy put up his hand.
“Julie is not feeling too good, I’m taking her home. Why don’t you two go out to dinner?” he offered. Without waiting for them to decline, he led Julie out of the building.
Will’s eyes followed them and it soon settled on Julie’s head, something was flashing in her hair. He was trained for finding devices but this one was so subtle that he had to stare for a long time to notice it. He turned to Cass apologetically “I guess we should go home and see how Julie’s doing.”
Cass nodded her head in confusion as she followed Will to his car. When they reached the house, they saw Andy’s men looking around the place as if it was dangerous. “Hey, what are you guys doing?!” Cass objected.
The men pulled out a rounded gun as they aimed at her threateningly. Will quickly interfered between the deadly weapons and the scared Cass. “Look, she didn’t mean any harm.” He said firmly.
Andy waved his hands at his men as the retrieved their weapons “They are just protecting me.” He smiled kindly at the two. “So you are William, what a lucky man you are.” He turned to look at Julie.
Will felt Julie’s eyes were trying to tell him something. “Can I have a word with my wife, please?”
Andy nodded “Of course.”
Julie followed Will into their room, he opened his mouth to say something but she quickly covered it as she said quickly “He’s just my new boss, he means no harm.” She pointed to the back of her head.
He quickly lifted her hair to find a device so delicately placed that it feared him to try to remove it “Are you sure, he seems interested in you.”
Julie stood still while Will worked to get the device safely off of her “No, he’s could be my dad. Don’t worry, he might look dangerous but he’s got a soft heart.”
Will used his tools located in his belt as he pulled out a tiny needle like tool. With a press of the end, the needle stretched out longer and it began to spin. Cautiously, he began to saw away the edges of the round device. “Don’t trust people so easily.” He warned. They used their dialogue as an act to divert Leo’s attention. Within minutes the device fell from her hair as Will was quick to catch it in the palm of his hand, who knew what would happen if it crashed to the floor. Knowing Leo, he would insert a bomb big enough to wipe out a mile of radius around them.
“Honey, I’m not feeling too good, I’m going to sleep now.” That was Will’s cue to leave it on the bedstand. He did so as they tipped toed out of the room, he closed the door loudly on purpose for Leo to hear.
They returned outside to find Andy sitting on one of the couches while the four men were seated on the long couch, Cass sitting between them looking scrutinized. She smiled at the sight of her sister and Will, she practically jumped from her seat “You’re back!”
The four men stood up the minute Cass got up making her hide behind her sister and Will. “She’s harmless.” Julie insisted to Andy.
He only nodded “I would like a word with Julie and Mr. William.” He announced to his men. They nodded in response never speaking unless they were asked to. Cass looked nervously at her sister.
Julie smiled soothingly at her sister “Ga Jei, we’ll be gone for a bit. You’ll be okay at home right?” she nodded slowly but looked up nervously at the big men “Don’t worry, the men will be going with us.”
Cass sighed happily “Thank God.” Her smile disappeared when the four heads turned her way “No offense.” She said quickly.
**********************
The three chose a noisy bar to talk. Julie felt it was time to tell Will who Andy really was. Andy disapproved but he respected her choice. Will looked at the two, who had a casual closeness that didn’t seem right. “So who are you?” he asked.
Andy smiled as he turned to Julie “You tell him.”
She told him the whole story and about the fact that he was the third person with them when they first found the machines. Will took it harder than Julie imagined. He sat back sighing for it was hard to digest “You’re trying to tell me that the agency that I have dedicated my life to is just a killing corp?”
Andy shook his head “I did not say that. All I’m saying is that they will kill off anyone that is not in their best interest. You do not benefit anything from working for them. I suggest we go into a different field.”
This was the first time Julie had heard his suggestion “What field?”
“The Special Spy Unit.” He smiled when the two exchanged glances “You two heard of it I presume?”
Will shook his head “I didn’t know it existed. It was a rumor that traveled around the FBI but no one has ever seen the place or met any ‘spy’.”
Julie tilted her head “You work for them?” Andy nodded with a smile. That explained why he was able to have all the high tech equipment, some that she’s never seen herself. “Why are you telling us?”
Andy laughed “I thought it would be obvious.” He looked at her directly in the eye “I like you.” She turned away shyly while he continued “I trust when you say that Will is a great agent. With our combined help, we can find out how to stop these machines. But it will only work if you both trust me.”
Julie looked up and nodded firmly “I do.” She turned to Will who has been quiet most of the time there “Will?” she asked. “I know you don’t like to lie or feel that you are betraying the service. But think about it, when your father died, what prestigious thing did they do for him? Nothing.” She said bluntly.
Will traced his mind for the time he found out his father had died on the job to the time he joined the services. Julie was right, they did nothing to bring out his name, in honor of his 10 years of hard work. He rubbed his eyes in frustration, finally realizing something he did not want to believe existed. “I don’t know.” He said finally. Will could not fight with his own conscience.
Julie leaned in “You agreed to lose your life if your job duty is so dangerous, but how do you want to die? Sacrificing yourself or being killed by your very own people that you trusted? Our job was to find out a way to stop these machines because our fellow agents have risks their lives trying to find the secret behind those glass walls. If the service finds out that we had any contact with other people, we would already be dead.” She pointed out.
Will snapped his head up as he looked down at his watch “Sergeant Liu.” He whispered.
Julie looked over at Andy “Our boss can hear everything we say.” She said.
“It does not receive in high volume places. That’s why I chose this place.” He smiled sincerely “I would not do anything to harm you two. They trained you well, but for what? To be killed after the secret has been discovered and when the service gets their hand on the material, you think they will still want to keep you?” he chuckled “Don’t be naïve.”
Julie turned to Will “I’m already in knee deep, we just need you now.”
He slowly smiled at the two “You talked me into it.”
The three smiled as they began discussing their plans. After Andy posed as Anthony finds out more information about the machines, they will be able to control them and stop the monster making. The Spy Unit is made from agents or spies that wanted to make a difference and stop the crazy people from controlling the world. It was formed three years before Andy was discharged from the FBI. He was saved and brought into the unit. He grew adapted to it and during his two years there, he had enrolled at least 35 new spies. 37 now if they counted Will and Julie.
*********
The next two months was extra hard work for Julie and Andy. Not only were their actions being watched by cameras built in from the paintings, they were constantly watched from all eyes that entered the room. It was actually by accident that Julie found them. She was looking directly at the glare of the sun and when she moved her eyes away it settled on a peculiar painting that she did not see before. The lens of the camera glared against her eyes as she realized what they were.
She looked up at Andy but he only smiled, indicating that he already knew about it. She shook her head in awe, wondering how he became so educated with his surroundings. They spent most of the days not talking to each other, it was their way of staying away from the eyes that were looking and listening to their every move.
After work, Andy and Julie hung around at the harbor as they talked “We need a better plan to get into those files. He has them locked up in his drawers. There’s no way to get to them.” Julie said as she leaned on the metal bars that stopped her from falling into the waters.
Andy nodded “I know what you mean, but we can’t just walk into that office. It’s like walking into a cat’s trap.”
She nodded “I know what you mean.” Julie let out a tired sigh “This is going to be a fierce battle. If we don’t survive…”
Andy covered her lips “We will survive.” He said with confidence.
“How can you be so sure?” she pushed his hand away and took a few steps back “You know exactly how dangerous those machines are. We have not even got in contact with that monster, for all we know it could be 100 times stronger!” she was feeling the stress of saving mankind. “He could crush us in two seconds and then the world would be doomed-”
To her surprise he leaned in and kissed her straight on the lips, his hand grazing her face while she gave in. He pulled away gently and his eyes opened slowly “Even if the world is doomed, I would still be by your side. I’ve cheated death too many times to believe that my life will end. I won’t let anything happen to you, I promise.”
Julie nodded understanding. He reached out as she leaned on the nape of his neck “For the first time in my life I’m scared.” He slowly rocked her until they decided to go home.
Chapter 12
Nick Cheung - Andy ChuAfter the talk with Andy, Julie was determined to find the files. She knew there was one day that Leo would be out of the office. She took her chances as she went to see Leann. To her very own surprise, Julie found Leann and Cass talking and laughing in her office. Julie leaned on the door with her arms cross, a plastered smile on her face. Cass was the first to see her sister “Hey, Julie!”
Leann looked up with a welcoming smile “Come over here, you’ve got to see this.” She pointed to her computer. “Look what Cass did.”
Julie walked over and found a 3-D figure of a little Barbie dancing wildly. She let out a laugh “You designed this?”
Cass smiled with a nod “Yeah, it was Leann’s idea though. She said give the toy some style, so I thought of dancing. The toy will be much smoother though.”
Julie smiled at the two, they were finally getting along “You two just made me forgot why I came down here.” She scolded, her face wrinkling as she pretended not to remember.
Leann smiled “Sure, blame it on us.”
Julie snapped her fingers “I remember now! Leann, do you have the keys to Leo’s desk drawer? He called me early this morning to get some information off of this one file that he has in his drawer.”
Leann’s smile faded “No one is allowed to go into that drawer.” She warned.
Julie nodded “I know, he told me that you would say that. But he really needs that information. He should be in that meeting in about 10 minutes and the company would lose face if he didn’t get that information.” Leann was still hesitant “Look, why don’t you come with me and stand there until I’m done?”
That seemed to work because she nodded with a smile “Sure, I guess that will work.”
The two girls entered the elevator and rode up to the 10th floor. They received strange glances from the girl that was a temporary secretary to Leo. Surely enough, the key that Leann had with her fit the lock to Leo’s drawer. Julie wasted no time as she brushed through file after file. She finally found the right one as she held it up to the light. The dialogue was done in numbers that Leann could not understand but Julie did. She held up her wrist watch and pressed a tiny button on the left. The camera took every detail that it could get. She replaced the file where she found it and looked up at Leann “Thank you, Leo should be very grateful.”
Leann snickered “That brother of mine is never grateful. He’s lucky to have you as an assistant.”
Julie smiled “You’re feeding my ego.” She joked.
The girls left the room and Julie returned to her office with Andy. He looked up from his desk to see her enter. It was hard for her to hide the smile. He only raised his eyebrow in which made her smile even wider.
That night, Julie returned home with Will and Cass. She was so excited that she dragged Will into the room. “I got it.” She whispered eventhough it was just the two of them.
“Go what?” he asked as he took off his tie. Suddenly he stopped and turned to her “You did?”
She nodded eagerly “We need to see Andy.”
“Yeah.” Will agreed. They made up another excuse with Cass. Before they left, Will noticed Cass looking extra sad “We’ll be back.” He promised.
She nodded with a small smile “Okay.”
Their plan was put into motion, Andy advised his superiors about the plan and the information they found. He was able to decode the file and found that the only way to stop the new monster machine was from the control, which was the toy shaped monster. “That’s a big risk they’re taking.” Andy began, he got up from his seat in his hidden hideout “See here…” he pointed to the wall “This part says that the machine can backfire on them. There’s only two ways to destroy it.”
Will wrinkled his eyebrows “Two? I thought you said the toy shaped one can only stop it.”
“Don’t underestimate the power of bombs.” Julie said knowingly.
Andy pointed at her with a smile “Right. If we have to destroy it, we will definitely blow up the whole building.”
“Isn’t that dangerous? How about the innocent people in there?” Will asked.
“That’s why we’re doing it tonight.” Andy said solemnly. He got up and pressed against one of the bricks on his wall. The area on the wall opened up and pushed out a table with pure explosives. “Here are our uniforms.” He handed them to Will and Julie. “This was shipped to me a couple of days ago from the Unit.”
“When are we going to get to see this ‘Unit’?” Will asked curiously while putting on his uniform, which was a dark gray shirt and pants.
“When we accomplish our mission.” Andy replied shortly. He looked up and found Will smoothing out his sleeve “Don’t touch that part!!” he pointed to the cuffs “There are darts that could be activated, shooting at 200 mph and can kill faster than a tranquilizer on an elephant. Be careful.”
Will raised his hand in a surrender motion “Anything else I need to know?”
Andy nodded “The collar is made of a device that can keep us in contact with each other in case we get separated. The inner part of the pants are made of a special flexible metal. If you end up in a fight with your enemy, kick him anywhere that will come in contact with your pant legs and he will fall quicker than a bullet.”
Julie held up her uniform to look at it. It was a tight fitting rubber material that was softer than it looked. “What does mine do? Besides making me look like cat woman?”
Andy and Will laughed “It allows you to be flexible and it’s light as a feather, letting you run like a speeding bullet.” Andy explained.
Julie raised her eyebrows “That’s all? He has killer needles and I have ‘light as a feather’? I think there is something wrong with this picture.”
Andy smiled “You would look great in it. Their eyes will be on you, in which it will give Will and I time to destroy the machines.” She opened her mouth to ask something but he quickly cut her off “There is a special design on the material that only the machines can see. You’ll see what I mean when you face them. But don’t stay in one place too long, it only works for about 1 minute.”
“That’s usually all I can handle too.” Will snorted and Andy smiled at him.
Julie put her hands on her waist “That’s not funny, Will.” She looked around “Where can I change?”
Will and Andy sat on the bed simultaneously “Here.” Andy brought his hand out. “Is something wrong with this place?”
“Oh no, you two are not getting a free show.” She walked to the trapped door and pressed on the code that Andy gave her. She stood inside the maze and changed. When she appeared the guys were loading up their weapons on their ready made belts.
Andy looked up only to be mesmerized by her petite figure against the skin tight outfit. Will only glanced at his partner and then back at Andy “See, it works on humans too.”
His comment made Julie blush as she reached for the second part of her outfit a thin black long collared coat. “When are we leaving?”
Andy looked down at his watch “In two minutes.” He handed her a small rounded gun “If those machines or anyone gets too close, just shoot the crap out of it.”
“The valuable words of the special agent.” She rolled her eyes sarcastically making Will chuckle. The three headed out to the harbor late that night. They snuck into the building with ease. Julie had a strange suspicion “Something’s not right, that was too easy.” She pointed it out to the guys.
By the time they reached the third floor, the lights throughout the floors came on blinding them since they were use to the darkness. Andy looked up “Get out now!” they rushed for the exit but the glass doors would not give.
There they stood in the middle of the third floor, the lights have been turned on and a cruel laugh erupted through the intercom system “Welcome, my guests.” The voice was not familiar. “I’ve been waiting for you.”
Julie exchanged glances with the guys, her heart thumping so hard, she was frozen in her spot. Andy looked around “What do you want?”
“You broke into my building and you are asking what I want?” the booming voice continued to laugh.
Andy narrowed his eyes “Mr. Fung, it’s been a while. I remember the last time we met was almost 4 years ago. I thought you had died from a heart attack after your son almost destroyed this company over a girl.” He recalled the situation loud and clear. Andy was working undercover when he discovered a love affair in the office between Leo and his own secretary. He was much more naïve then and was willing to do anything to save his beloved. Unfortunately, she was a spy just like Andy. It was a shame he could not save her from the evil hands of Hung Fung.
Suddenly the buzzing sound of the elevator caught their attention. The three looked up and came eye to eye with the mastermind himself. He was an old man that sat in a glass wheelchair especially made. It move with ease as it carried him over to the intruders, behind him was Leo and James along with at least 10 other men. It was Julie’s first time seeing the man, he looked more powerful than she imagined, even though he was sitting in a wheelchair she only felt fearful.
“Traitor.” Leo growled.
Andy turned to Leo with a small smile “Still gullible, I see.”
The elder man looked up to his son with disapprovement “He thinks with his little head.” He grunted as he rolled closer to the three. They stood their ground at the intimidating man “You three have guts to go here in the middle of the night. Did you think we would not put up a fight?”
Will leered his eyes at the old man “It’s wrong to build those machines and you know it.”
Mr. Fung looked up at the daring Will “You…you’re Kong Lai’s son aren’t you?” Will widened his eyes “Damn bastard wouldn’t cry for help even after I fed him to the sharks.” The man laughed while Will charged at him only to be stopped by Andy and Julie.
“You’re sick.” Julie muttered. Her eyes caught another figure hiding behind a desk. She decided not to point the moving shadow out.
“You monster!!” Will cried angrily not caring that the ten men behind had guns pointed towards their direction.
The man only laughed “Monster? Why thank you, I always appreciate compliments.” He clapped his hands “Underwater.” He commanded the building.
To the three’s shock, a cylinder wall moved around them and the middle of the floor began to move slowly downwards. She looked up and the realized the circular center of the whole building was an elevator. It stretched slowly down into the water until it reached the hidden rooms. Andy and Julie exchanged glances, it was new to them “That’s why the third floor was more special than the others.” Julie whispered.
The elder man had great hearing as he laughed “Amateurs! There are more secrets to this building than your future kids will ever learn.” He shook his head “Such a shame that they will never exist.”
“Don’t be so sure.” Andy said with confidence.
Leo snickered “Do you three think you found this place by accident? We knew you were spies all along.”
“That showed in your shock face when you saw me earlier.” Julie said sarcastically.
Leo only burned his eyes through her “You don’t believe me?” the three looked at each other carefully “I have a little surprise for you.” He waved his hand and one of their men nodded as he walked into one of the three doors and opened one. Out appeared a middle aged man, his stride had confidence in it.
Will and Julie looked at each other in shock, their eyes soon hardened when the man got closer “Sergeant Liu.” Will said through gritted teeth.
The man only smiled “Will, Julie I am very disappointed. You two were my best agents. How could you not have known?”
Andy looked up at the man “Its never too late to find out.”
“You!” he pointed at Andy with hatred “If it wasn’t for you, our plans wouldn’t be ruined!”
Mr. Fung raised a hand to silence the Sergeant “Please, old friend. There is no need to be angry. We’re about to see a big show. Didn’t you want to know what the machines can do?”
The three backed against the glass walls while the human machines were released. There were way too many of them. The three stood their stance as the machines began to attack. They were like toys compared to the machines, Andy hit all their weak spots “The center of the chest!” he warned Will. Will looked over long enough to see what Andy was doing. He used his legs to kick at their chest. While Julie worked around to dodge them, she did long enough for Will and Andy to control their machines and help her out.
When the machines were all fallen, the three were completely out of breath. Mr. Fung only clapped his hands happily “That’s a great show! It’s such a shame you three are not working for me. If you chose the death road, who am I to argue right?” his smile fell as he clapped his hands and another 30 came out.
This time, they took twice as long to defeat the machines. Julie’s mind was distracted when she couldn’t dodge the fists that came her way. She fell to the ground in pain; whipping her head back, she saw the machine reaching his leg up ready to pound on her. Andy saw as he pushed himself to fight faster but it was useless, there were too many of them. “Julie!!” he cried in the mist of the fights. Will too, couldn’t get to her in time. Julie backed away slowly but the machine just inched closer to her.
