TREMBLETT AND REST OF CAITLIN'S CREW - BACK FOR ANOTHER 26 EPISODES - VANCOUVER, June 14, 2000 -- Actor Ken Tremblett is back in High River, Alberta on June 19 to resume his role as Sheriff Jim Lowe on another 26 episodes of the hit television series Caitlin's Way.
Caitlin's Way is a fish-out-of-water drama about an orphaned, city-wise teenager who is dispatched to the sticks to live with a distant relative. Ken Tremblett plays Sheriff Jim Lowe, Caitlin's (Lindsay Felton) new stepfather whose hands are kept full with his new charge as trouble and adventure follow her from the city to this rough terrain.
The March 11th premiere of Caitlin's Way in the United States on Nickelodeon was the highest rated premiere in the television network's 20-year history, making it the most successful Canadian production in the U.S. children's live-action drama series market. The show has remained strong over the succeeding weeks, placing in the Top 15 Basic Cable U.S. ratings chart. The series is also a hit with the tween audience with the Canadian broadcaster YTV, placing in the top ten overall for non-animated programs on YTV, particularly with viewers between 2-17 years."Everyone is thrilled with the success of the show," says Tremblett. Upon hearing of the series renewal, Tremblett responded "I've been looking forward to this day since December 10th" (wrap date of season one).
And, Caitlin's Way is going global. Already airing in Australia on Nickelodeon, the series will soon have a worldwide audience that includes the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Eastern Europe, Africa, Middle East, Netherlands and Greece. It has been translated into several languages including, German, Italian, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish and Latin Spanish. "My friends are already doing impressions of me (as Sheriff Lowe) in other languages," laughs Tremblett. "A Spanish Jim Lowe," he continues, "I like it. I hope the show gets play in every country that has children."
The successful team of Helene White (Connecting) and Jana Veverka(Lonesome Dove: The Series, Bordertown) will once again produce the second season of the series. Fireworks Entertainment, subsidiary of CanWest Global, is the international distributor and financier of Caitlin's Way in association with the Tom Lynch Company in the US. Financial support is also provided by the Alberta Film Fund. The series was created by Tom Lynch, whose other credits include The Secret World of Alex Mack, and 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd.
Tremblett also has a leading role in the feature film, The Guilty starring Bill Pullman in which he plays Pullman's best friend. The film was recently purchased by Lion's Gate Entertainment for North American distribution.
