A Beginning
The warm spring wind blew softly through the garden as two you women walked up to the palace with a mischievous grin on their faces. They were the Princesses Tranquility and Amethia. They both walked with the grace of royalty and had long flowing hair. Tranquility's hair was a golden blonde and it reached her waist when it was down, but at that moment it was braided and wrapped around her head like a crown. Her eyes seemed to glow with a deep silver light that looked right through you. Amy's hair was a medium brownish color and it was braided in a crown too. Her eyes were silver pools of fire that seemed to swallow everything. Tranquility looked like she was about age 18, and Amy age 15. Despite the age difference, they were whispering and giggling in each other's ears like they were the best of friends.
The Queen, Abrianna turned around to see the Princesses come into the palace from the garden. They had stopped smiling and giggling. They wouldn't dare do that to their mother when she was mad. The Queen thought to herself Oh no, not again! Why do they always do this to me? And why is it always these two instead of the princes? Out loud she said. "What did you do this time? First it's frogs in the kitchen, dead rats in my room, spiders in the showers but this? This is . . ." she paused groping for words "it's . . . a crisis. How could you? Leading the attendants back and forth when they had important business to attend to! You made up emergencies that didn't exist! You can't keep on acting like this! You are Princesses! " she glared accusingly at both of them, then turned to Tranquility. "You are the heir to the throne, you need to act like it!"
Tranquility blinked, "I'm sorry mother" she said sincerely knowing if it were otherwise her mother would know. "We didn't mean any harm, but it's all my fault. Really, she was just there to watch the look on their faces." Tranquility held back a smile, but her mother's anger vanished and she smiled also
"I know, honey, you just need to act a little more like a princess from now on. Before your father sends you to princess school. And you!" She turned to Amethia, "you need to learn to take responsibility for what you do. I know she was just covering for you!"
At that point Amethia was about to add, "It's my fault I dared her to help me do it. I'm sorry I really am." But she swallowed the words before they came out and instead said. "I'm sorry, I am working on it." Un-shed tears sparkling in her eyes as she looked up at her mother and expressed her emotion with mental projection as well as physical. "Please don't let him send her away!" she said sobbing openly now as she clung to Tranquility's arm.
Tranquility moved to close her in her arms. "I won't ever leave I promise." She said projecting a mental picture of her crossing her heart....
