Meet a Prince
"The garden is beautiful tonight." Said Amethia to
Tranquillity as they took their nightly walk. "I hope
the guards don't stop us before the Cherry tree walk
way." She looked ahead to the fork in the path, they
were walking, to the turn they would take to face the
walk way and a group of palace guards.
"They probably
won't, not tonight." Said Tranquility also looking at
the fork. "They will be too busy." she said a
mischievous grin appearing on her face.
Amethia's
face brightened, "you didn't!" she said grinning. "I
thought we were saving that prank for the betrothal
festival to distract your prince!"
Tranquility
shrugged. "We will find another one we always do. In
the mean time lets take advantage of the opportunity!"
She said breaking into a run with Amethia at her
heels. Their skirts flowed behind them as they ran.
Soon they reached the fork in the path breathless and
rosy cheeked. "Lets *gasp* catch *gasp* our breath
*gasp* before we *gasp* go down it *gasp*" said
Tranquility as they did just that. Before long they
had caught their breath and calmed down enough to walk
regally through the falling petals under the
magnificent moonlight.
Lucian looked over the hedges to see the Princesses
turn to take the cherry tree walk way. An unexpected
path but he was prepared. Lucian ran over to the last
row of cherry trees and climbed up. Within seconds he
was in the second row of trees twenty yards ahead of
the Princesses. He took a deep breath to try to calm
the rush of emotions surging through him. The scene
made the princesses seem even more beautiful, their
hair in the crown braids made them look like queens.
The moonlight accented their pale features, and their
dresses, a pure white, made them seem like angels
walking through a warm mist of snow. Laughs rang
through the air like bells ringing gaily. Lucian
wished he had more to give them than his small solar
system. True it was beautiful and some places were
like paradise but nothing compared to their beauty.
Besides the oldest one was already betrothed (not
officially) to a man her father had chosen as worthy
to take his place when he died. But the youngest one
just entering the courting age and he planned on
courting her as soon as he told his parents where he
was. He had gone on a surprise "vacation" two months
ago and had arrived her a few weeks ago (incognito).
He had instantly fell in love with the Princesses and
wished to get to know them. Just then the princesses
were on tree away from him (A.N. Remember he is in the
second row) and their voices pulled him out of his
thoughts.
"I wish this night could last until I meet
my match, it's perfectly romantic!" Said Amethia
taking a quick look around.
Tranquility nodded and
said, "Yes, it is, isn't it." and the two walked on.
Lucian promised himself right then that he would have
Amethia to be his or he would die trying.
The princesses walked on towards the palace outer
walls where the path made a 'T' shape. There was three
choices go back through cherry tree walk way, go
towards the palace or go deeper into the garden. The
Princesses chose to go deeper into the garden and
enjoy more of its beauty. Lucian anticipated this and
was situated on the edge of the path just out of sight.
He awaited the girls passing him so he could appear to
have come off a side path to the one they were on.
The princesses were just feet away when he made his
entrance. He walked slowly to give them the chance to
catch up but not too slow like he was waiting for
them. He held his head high to let him know he was
royalty and counted on the princesses courtesy to
invite him into the conversation. Amethia was the
first to notice him and she did just what he wanted.
"Hello there sir!" she said calling up to him and
quickening her stride. "And what might you be doing in
the garden this spring evening?" she said as she came
up beside him. She sent a mental picture of him back
to Tranquility with the message, "He's cute!"
Lucian
answered, "just taking my nightly walk." While trying to
think of what to say if she asked:
"We've never seen
you here before are you new?" Which is exactly what
she did.
He answered "I came in just a few days ago
I've been exploring the palace before tonight I just
finished yesterday so I decided to start on the
garden."
Amethia smiled at this. "The palace is very
good for hide and seek, you can get lost in it very
easy if you don't figure out the layout really quick.
Did you ever get lost?" she said with a laugh at old
memories.
"No I have a good sense of direction I just
had to get the directions in." he said with a tap at
his head. "Have you ever been lost in the palace?" he
asked looking straight at her.
Just then Tranquility
joined in. "Yes she has multiple times, but she
wouldn't ever admit it!" she said with a laugh.
Amethia blushed "Yes I have and it was scary." she
said projecting a feeling of loneliness. "Are you
telepathic?"
"Yes I am" Said Lucian with a laugh.
This made her blush at the thought that he may have
gotten her message to Tranquility earlier; which he
had...
