 ~By Pixie~    ~To Angel Matthew Bankert~I wrote this poem for Matthew based on his love of Grover from Sesame Street. God bless you all. ~Love: Marlene~ ~May 19, 2001~  ~Grover's Sad Day~ One day Grover couldn't find him to play a game. He searched high and low, then finally he said. "I bet Matthew is hiding underneath my bed!"  But Matthew wasn't there and Grover got so worried. He put on his shoes and to Matthew's house he hurried. He knocked on the door, and Matthew's Mom Genn appeared. "Can you help me Genn, Matthew has disappeared!"  "He always watches me on tv, my favorite little friend." "I've looked all over for Matthew, but not a peep of him." Genn's face was sad as she said "Grover come inside." "I've got some sad news for you, Matthew didn't hide'"  "God's angels came for Matthew and took him away." "Grover I'm sorry to have to break the news to you today." Grover's face grew pale, his eyes welled up in tears. For Matthew being gone hadn't been one of his fears.  Grover wrapped his arms around Genn and held her tight. The two of them together to Matthew would have been a delight. Then Grover sadly turned away and said "I'm so sorry Genn." "Matthew was so precious and my dearest little friend."  "I know that he's in Heaven, though I wish he was still here. "This is the saddest news that I could ever hear." "Matthew is an angel now, so precious and so sweet."
