This poem is dedicated to the friends
of those who have lost the love of another.
Be there for that friend and just listen.
It's hard to let go of love, so be sympathetic.
Keep an open mind and an open heart.
Love: Pixie
Losing the love of someone close can be quite a trial.
But we can't try to help someone who's living in deep denial.
We can't try to understand or reason their hurt or their pain.
Until they are back into their right frame of mind again.
But listen close to me my friend and try to understand.
That the hourglass goes by slowly for them, sand by lonely sand.
It could take a week or so, maybe as long as a year.
Before your friend can listen to what they really need to hear.
Don't try to read their thoughts of something you can't comprehend.
Just stand by and be there when they need you as a friend.
Don't ask them how long they plan to sit and cry.
Even though the loss of their love seems minor in your eye.
For their hurt may run deeper than you'll ever know.
Remember the old adage yourself "you'll reap what you sow."
Though you want to just yell at your friend "please open up your eyes!"
You mustn't do that my friend, for you then they might despise.
If you listen to anything here, please take my advice.
Before you say anything to your friend, think about it twice.
Some people can walk away from hurt without even looking behind.
Your friend may not be one of these, so to them please be kind.
And one day when your friend is stronger and can face the facts aloud.
Their sorrow will be lifted, they'll shed their darkened shroud.
And God will lift them up and take away their deepest pain.
So they can open up their eyes and learn to believe in love again.
