California Cup Juvenile Quotes

Santa Anita Press Release
$125,000 California Cup Juvenile
Two-Year-Olds Bred in California - 1 1/16 Miles
TYLER BAZE, CRACKUP, WINNER: "I wanted to get the jump on everyone because I knew they would all be coming, and with these 2-year-olds it's pretty much the horse that gets the first jump. Shoot, when I asked him, he really dug in and kept trying right to the wire. He's a really nice horse and I think he's going to go a long ways. Raffy just said to let him break and if you have the lead, stay there, but if something's pushing you, try to get him to the outside. That's how it worked out."
RAFAEL BECERRA, CRACKUP, WINNER: "I knew all along this horse could go two turns, because every time I worked him, he showed me a good kick at the end. I was waiting for him to run two turns. I know past is past, but last time he should have won, too. We'll see how he comes out of this race. I might have been too hard on him, so I may just back off on him."
NOTES: This was the first Cal Cup victory for Rafael Becerra and Tyler Baze.
