Supplier of 3/4" steel adapters with 1/4-20 thread inside.  They have other sizes too.
These adapters are pounded into the ends of 3/4" aluminum tubing and provide a
1/4-20 thread that allows attachment to anything.

Here are examples of threaded inserts  in the ends of aluminum tubes.  The one  on the right has a short piece of 1/4-20  threaded rod in it which would allow  the two tubes to be screwed together.  Part #3076-4-3  is $0.65 each when you  order 50.  I ordered 50 thinking it was a  lifetime supply, but found myself ordering  50 more a year later.
