June means a boy with his cane fishing pole;
Since school is dismissed he has no other goal
Than day-dreaming, scheming, and just having fun.
Already his face has been kissed by the sun
Till tiny brown freckles are out everywhere.
But he isn't bothered - his slim feet are bare,
And he wiggles his toes, making plan after plan
For the day when his years will proclaim him a man.
