Harry Potter fans at a school in Wales have come up with their own version of that wizardly sport, Quidditch.
Pupils at Newtown High School in Powys are taking part in their very own Quidditch tournament complete with "quaffles", "seeker" and the "golden snitch". But instead of 50ft high goalposts, one team member, called the "hooper" uses two large hoops which he or she must use to prevent goals being scored.

The game was devised by drama teacher Elaine Currie who insists only pupils who read Harry Potter can take part. The tournament kicked off last week with 70 children in years 8 and 9 - and a staff team - all competing for the trophy on finals day on July 20.

Pupils are even designing fantasy costumes to give them honorary wizard status and earn then a few extra magic points - but with no broomsticks, this version of Quidditch is strictly for earthlings.
