Wizards of the Coast have been working on it for the longest time, and even after having been expected for release in May of 2001, the Harry Potter Trading Card Game will most likely be available for purchase no earlier than July, and still probably later. The objective of the game is to be the first person to make his or her opponent’s cards “disappear” and win. Watch out Pokemon, there's a new boy in town!
Each card is illustrated with colourful all-new art, which captures characters, potions and spells, creatures, and situations from the first novel. To the right is an example of one of the card illustrations entitled "Out of the Woods". It depicts the scene where Hagrid, Harry, Malfoy, Hermione, Neville, and Fang emerge out of the Forbidden Forest after going on a unicorn hunt. The top picture shows a close up view of the backs of the playing cards. They picture Harry's head sporting his very famous lightning bolt scar.
