~Wizarding Words~

~Ahh, so you're the poor Muggles who don't understand a single word I have so far said. Or those with a memory like Neville Longbottom's. Please don't be offended, I use the dictionary too. Actually, J.K. Rowling has conjured so many new words everyone should be here. So don't worry. You've just joined another club~

Apparate - the ability to move magically from one location to another
Azkaban - The wizard prison, guarded by Dementors, creatures who are able to sense any happy thought and suck it, and the life, from their victims.
Sirius Black - Harry's Godfather, a prisoner in Azkaban, unfairly accused of murder.
Diagon Alley - Magically concealed street in London where wizards shop
Albus Dumbledore - Wizard and headmaster of Hogwarts
Erised - The mirror of desire
The Dursleys - Vernon and Petunia and their son, Dudley. Harry's cloddish Muggle relatives with whom he lives miserably until he is 11 and discovers that he is a wizard.
Floo Powder - Allows people to travel from one location to another, departing and arriving in fireplaces, grates and chimney flues.
Hermione Granger - Bright and studious, she is one of Harry's best friends and a fellow resident of Gryffindor.
Rubeus Hagrid - Gamekeeper at Hogwarts, a half-giant and good friend to Harry.
Hogwarts - a training school for young wizards and withches
Invisibility Cloak - A silvery cloth cape, it makes the wearer invisible. A gift from Dumbledore to Harry, the cloak originally belonged to Harry's father.
Ministry of Magic - Seat of magical government where Ron Weasley's father works
Marauder's Map - map invented by Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs that shows all of Hogwarts, it's secret passages, and where people are by moving dots.
Muggle - Non-magical people - us mortals!
Omnioculars - similar to binoculars but with slow-mo, replay ad play-by-play features
Owls - Mail carriers in Harry's magical world
Quidditch - A soccer-like game played in the air on broomsticks. The magical world's obsession with the game culminates each summer with the World Cup playoffs.
Sorting Hat - First-year residents at Hogwarts don the sorting hat, which then announces to which house the new student is assigned.
Lord Voldemort - Harry's nemesis, a Dark wizard who killed Harry's parents and has been in hiding ever since.
The Weaseleys - a large family of magical people who have seven children at Hogwarts, Including Ron, Harry's best friend.
