Sundome, Yakima WA – Grand Chapter was –as usual – hot but enjoyable!

Mariner’s Game – August 7th

We all had a great time when the Mariner’s beat the Toronto Blue Jays – Tuesday, August 7.

We also got a terrific deal on our tickets - $7.50 a person – then we were treated to 14 innings of Mariner baseball!  What a deal!

The weather was wonderful – it was a bit chilly around 11 pm but it started out warm and we had fabulous seats!  Some went home early but arrived home in time to watch the end of the game anyway!

Nesika members that went were: Barbara & Richard Moore, Tess & Chuck Kent & son Corey; Florence Morris; Velma Weber; Carol Vaughan with daughter Janice & grandsons John & David; & Christie Wild. There were also DeMolay, co-workers & friends. Thanks so much to all of you for making it such a fun night.

We even saw our Chapter name on the big screen!  Want to go again next year? Let Carol know!

News that I know

(and it ain’t much)

First – my apologies - contrary to the Worthy Matron’s faulty memory – we are doing the work and closing not opening & introductions.

Don &  Marcia Beck won’t be at the OV. Jim O’Rourke will be sitting in for Don. Thanks, Jim! Don & Marcia are at Grand Chapter in Wyoming.  It will also be MWGM Dorothy Dewing’s official visit.  Other than the heat – they should have a grand  time!

We’ll also be missing Nicole Turner who is studying in Japan until October. She’s having a great time!  Email her if you want to stay in contact with her while she’s gone. Thanks to Mary Spunaugle for sitting in for Nicole while she’s in the Land of the Rising Sun.

ODE CARDS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE SEPTEMBER MEETING – FINALLY!

Nesika members Amanda Holler and Christie Wild were installed as Worthy Advisor & Worthy Associate Advisor of Renton Rainbow Assembly #26 on August 4th.

Candy Starowski was recently elected as the Vice-chair of the Rainbow Foundation Board for the upcoming year.

Speaking of the Starowski’s- Bob & Candy just celebrated their 30th anniversary last weekend (Aug 11th). Congratulations!

Chuck Kent was recently awarded the DeMolay Legion of Honor.  This is the highest award that DeMolay can confer upon a non-senior DeMolay. Congratulations Chuck – his conferral is in September 2001.

Vicki Little is now doing nails at Monique’s in Tacoma. Call her if you need an appointment!

Did you know that Barbara Moore is a Creative Memories consultant? Please call her if you want to schedule a party or workshop!

If you know of a change in phone number or address, please let Eunice know so that she can get it into the new membership roster!

We’re having a potluck at 6 pm before the September meeting – it’s the chapter birthday party – call a member who hasn’t attended in a while – give a friend a ride – let’s have a celebration! 101 years!  Please bring a main dish, salad, bread, etc.; I will  bring the cake.

Welcome to our newest member, Chris Norlund.  Chris lives in Tacoma, she is a nurse and just started a new job at an assisted living facility.  She is married to Dave and has two children (both in college).  Chris has been a DeMolay advisor and is a Past Mother Advisor from Tacoma.  She also volunteers on the Rainbow Foundation as the Special Events Chairperson.

Do you know of something I can include in the September newsletter?  Email me – call me - write me…

Chuck & I are having a great time – we hope you are too.
