October 2001                                     We Hope You Dance!                        Renton, WA

Reception for Don Beck, Leonard Gottner, Marcia Beck and Elane Nelson

The reception for Don Beck (Knights Templar Eye Foundation), Leonard Gottner (ESTARL), Elane Nelson (Angel in Disguise) and Marcia Beck (Angel in Disguise) was held on September 16th at West Seattle. The room was filled and we had a wonderful time!

The Matrons and Patrons from each Chapter assisted in the reception.  The Conductress for the day was Pat Schaefer and the Associate Conductress was Janet Westland (Juanita).

Julia & Tom Stone  (Analia), Chuck & Tess Kent (Nesika), Janet & Dale Good (J.R. Thompson), Wilma & Noel Tufteland (Juanita) took turns presiding in the East.

Most Worthy Grand Matron Dorothy Dewing was present to honor these appointees.  Her remarks were heartfelt and touched on the recent tragedy in New York.  She encouraged all of us to reach out to those in need, to continue with our lives, and not let our fear overcome us. She praised the efforts of each of the honored guests on behalf of Eastern Star and gave us a laugh or two during the afternoon.

Worthy Grand Matron Gerry Shafer & Worthy Grand Patron Bill Hammontree were both present.  WGM Gerry arrived just in the nick of time; she’d been a witness to an accident on her way to the reception and had to remain to give information to the police.

Lilynne Bremmeyer sang a lovely song to honor Marcia Beck and Elane Nelson when they were introduced.

Carol Vaughan (Nesika) did a wonderful job organizing the reception afterward and boy was it tasty!

From WM Tess – my personal thanks to Don Beck for the opportunity to do the introductions. I had a great time!
