"This is so much fun. We haven't done this is forever,"Leighanne smiled as her and Jessica sat in front of the TV in Jessica's apartment in their pajamas surrounded by candy, popcorn, cookies, soda, you name it they had it.
"Yeah, you know I vegged out with Nick like this the other day,"Jessica smiled.
"Whoa now, back up there babe. You are now vegging out with Nick?? When did this happen??"Leighanne questioned, her eyes wide with curiousity and a slight smile playing on her face.
"Oh no, I know that look. It's not what you're thinking. We were just hanging out having fun. You know talking and stuff,"Jessica shrugged, taking a sip of her diet Docter Pepper.
"I'm sure. Go ahead, spill it Jess. I know you're dying to,"Leighanne smirked all-knowingly.
"Oh shut up Leighanne,"Jessica smiled, not meeting her friend's eyes.
"Come on, talk,"Leighanne pressed, the smirk still glued to her face.
"Fine! Nick and I almost kissed!"Jessica said quickly.
"Oh my god!"Leighanne squealed like a school girl. "Kissed??!"
"Oh geez, I knew I shouldn't have said anything. We didn't kiss. We ALMOST kissed,"Jessica corrected rolling her eyes.
"You know, I know you're going to really hate me for suggesting this but..."Leighanne said then trialed off.
"Oh just say it Leighanne. What is it?"Jessica groaned.
"Brian and Kevin were talking and they said that maybe you, Kristin, Mandy, and I could have a girls night out to get to know her a little better. Maybe they're right. I mean we haven't really given her that much of a chance,"Leighanne said with a shrug.
Jessica looked at Leighanne like she just grew an arm out of the side of her head then said stubbornly,"Are you crazy? The girl's just mean. I don't want to spend any more time with her then I have to. When I met her she was nothing but rude. I am NOT going to spend a whole day with her."
"At first I was like that too, but I dunno maybe she just feels threatened by us. I mean you were the love of his life for a very long time and I'm your best friend. Maybe she feels that we're plotting to break them up,"Leighanne suggested.
"No Leigh, I won't,"Jessica pouted, crossing her arms over her chest like a child.
The next day...
Jessica sat on her arms crossed over her chest, a scowl on her face, while glaring at Leighanne, "When the hell is she coming over??"
"Ok sweetie, grow up. You need to calm yourself down. Now I'm one of the first people to admit that I can barely stomach the girl myself but maybe if we get to know her she might now be that bad. Promise you'll be civil,"Leighanne said sternly, in a motherly fashion.
"When the hell did you become all motherly???"
"About the same time you became all immature,"Leighanne shot back with a satisfied grin.
Jessica raised an eyebrow,"I don't want her in my house. I don't the how I let you talk me into this."
"Cause you love me that's why,"Leighanne smiled.
"But I don't like her,"Jessica whined.
"Well we gotta learn. First, we're going shopping, then out to eat, then she's sleeping over. We got plenty of time to learn how to tolerate her,"Leighanne said, turning on the TV and planted herself on the sofa next to Jessica. "Stop being such a baby."
Jessica shot Leighanne another glare just as there was a knock on her apartment door,"Oh good. She's here,"she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Jessica got up and dragged herself to the door and swung it open. Mandy stood there her blond hair pulled up tightly, brownies in one hand, and a duffel bag in the other.
Mandy smiled politely,"Hi. Thanks for inviting me."
Jessica forced a smile,"No problem."
"These are for later,"Mandy thrusted the brownies into Jessica's hands.
"That's sweet,"Jessica muttered,"Come in."
Mandy walked in and said hi to Leighanne then dropped her bag on the floor,"Is Kevin's wife coming?"
"Yeah she should be here any minute,"Leighanne replied.
The three of them sat on the couch in an awkward silence.
"So Mandy,"Leighanne started,"Nick tells us that you're a singer."
"Yeah I have a contract with MCA,"she replied with a nod of her head. She looked bored with the world and Leighanne and Jessica exchanged glances. "Why did you guys do this? I know you don't like me."
Jessica raised her eyebrows in surprise and she glanced at Leighanne who had the same look on her face.
"Well, we did it to get to know you better,"Leighanne answered with what she hoped to be a reassuring smile. "We want to be your friend."
"Oh really..."Mandy said, unsurely.
"Yeah,"Jessica said, for Leighanne's sake. She knew Leighanne would strangle her if she said what she was really thinking. Which was 'hell no bitch!'.
"So there's no hard feelings about Nick?"Mandy asked directly to Jessica.
"Nick and I are just friends Mandy. We went out two years but I dumped him so there's no hard feelings,"Jessica replied. She was partially lying. She knew she shouldn't be a hypocrite since she was dating someone else too, but she didn't like to see Nick with anyone else.
"Two years, that's a long time,"Mandy noted.
"Yeah but it didn't feel like that with Nick,"Jessica shrugged.
"So I guess you guys really did love eachother huh?"Mandy questioned, leaning back on the couch and crossed her legs.
"Yeah. Very much,"Jessica nodded. She didn't want to be having this conversation at all, and she was having it with Mandy of all people.
"Well that's...interesting,"Mandy said, she seemed to be thinking and choosing her words carefully.
Jessica raised her eyebrows once more,"Um ok, yeah I guess it is."
"So Leighanne tells me we're going shopping,"Mandy said, looking down at her freshly manicured nails.
"Yes is that ok?"Jessica asked, a little more bitter then she should have.
Mandy glanced up at her a bored expression crossing her face,"Sure why not."
Jessica bit down on her lip to keep herself from saying something she shouldn't. She wanted to strangle the girl right then and there,"Ok." She was relieved when there was a knock on the door.
"It's Kristin,"Leighanne said.
"Yup,"Jessica replied, opening the door to see a smiling Kristin.
"Hey sweetie!"Kristin greeted, giving Jessica a hug.
"Hey, I'm glad you could make it Kris,"Jessica smiled warmly and took Kristin's overnight back.
"I was looking forward to it. I haven't had a girl's night out in the longest time,"she replied, pushing her blond hair out of her eyes.
"Hey Kris!"Leighanne said hugging her friend tightly.
"Hey Leigh!"Kristin replied with a giggle.
"Hi Kristin,"Mandy said from the couch.
Kristin smiled and reached down to give her a hug like she was an old friend. Jessica had to give her credit. The woman had a heart of gold. Kevin really knew how to pick them. No matter how annoying anyone got, Kristin could still find something nice to say about him or her. She was about as sweet as anyone could be.
"Well this is going to be so much fun. You have no idea how much I need this,"Kristin said excitedly. "You know, I was thinking we could treat ourselves to facials, massages, and manicures."
"I just got my nails done,"Mandy pointed out.
Kristin kept on smiling,"That's ok. You could still get a massage and a facial."
"That sounds great Kristin. You're right. We all need this,"Leighanne nodded.
"Yeah I'm up for it,"Jessica agreed, getting excited about the idea.
"Great so we could go shopping, to the spa, then come back and pig out. They'll be no men, it'll be great,"Kristin giggled.
After 3 hours of shopping and maxing out credit cards, the 4 women sat next to eachother in seperate chairs with cucumbers on their eyes, robes on their bodies, and an all natural face mask on their faces.
Leighanne sighed deeply,"Kris, you're a genius. This is perfect."
"It tingles!"Jessica squealed, indicating the creamy face mask.
"It feels nice,"Mandy murmered, finally loosening up to the girls a little during their shopping trip. She had admitted that she did feel a little bit intimidated of them because they were all so close with the guys and she felt like an outsider. Jessica had almost felt bad for her. Almost.
"I'm going to be broke for months,"Jessica joked about the shopping trip.
"Oh I know,"Leighanne agreed. "I just don't want to see Brian's reaction when he sees the bill at the end of the month."
"Show him the Victoria's Secret stuff you bought. That should shut him up,"Jessica snickered.
"Yeah it should,"Leighanne admitted with a laugh.
"I had fun with you guys,"Mandy said softly.
"We had fun with you too,"Kristin said.
"Yeah,"Jessica said.
"We have to so it again sometime,"Leighanne added.
"Oh my god! This is the best part! Baby dances with Johnny for the first time now!"Jessica cried out silencing the laughter of her friends.
"Oh this is when the whole staff is dirty dancing,"Leighanne said. The girls had rented a lot of movies for their night. Dirty Dancing was a personal favorite.
"Hence the title,"Jessica teased.
"If our husbands or boyfriends saw us sitting here quawking over Patrick Swazey's ass or imitating the dance steps they're gonna think we've turned teeny bopper on them,"Leighanne smiled.
"Either that or that we've completely hit the wall,"Mandy commented, her eyes glued to the screen.
"Hey, Patrick Swazey does have a nice ass!"Jessica defended.
"Oh yeah,"Leighanne and Mandy said in unison and the four of them broke into a fit of giggles.
"Do you hear them???"Brian hissed to the guys who had all gathered around with their ears pressed to Jessica's apartment door while their security guards guarding the hallway.
"They're...giggling,"Nick commented a grin creeping onto his face. "Sounds like they're singing."
"Oh no,"Kevin joked. Even he had to agree this was fun. He had thought the whole idea to sneak over to Jess's apartment and spy on their women was a little immature but now that they were there he was having a blast. They had been listening to the girls for about 15 minutes and were getting quite an education on how women act when they're together.
"I think we should go in,"AJ said with a devilish smile.
The guys exchanged glances and held back laughter as AJ slowly turned the knob on the door and opened it with caution. They all tiptoed inside and bursted out laughing at Jessica bobbing up and down leading the sing along, Leighanne and Mandy trying to immitate the dance moves, and Kristin throwing popcorn in the air catching it in her mouth.
"Oh...my...god..."AJ cackled trying to catch his breath as the 4 stunned women turned around, their faces red with embarrassment and their eyes wide with shock.
"What were y'all drinking?!"Nick laughed hysterically holding on to Brian for support.
"What the fuck are you doing here???"Jessica yelled, getting up, her hands firmly on her hips.
"Coming to visit our ladies,"AJ said innocently, trying to hide the large grin on his face.
"Oh go to hell,"Jessica pouted. "This was girls night out. You had NO right to just barge in. You know that's breaking and entering. I should call the cops on you guys right now. Now that'd make an interesting story in the papars wouldn't it???"
"Oh it's only breaking and entering if the door's locked,"Nick replied smartly, not bothering to hide his smile.
"You should leave,"Leighanne said, raising her eyesbrows in an angry, annoyed manner.
"Aww come on. Let's all chill together. No more teasing,"Brian persuaded.
"Wait! Kris, I had no idea you had that secret talent. You should share it with the world. Leighanne and Mandy, that was quite and interesting performance you two put on. And Jess, major props on the sing along you led,"Nick smirked, ducking away from the pillows that were being chucked at him. "Ok NOW no more teasing." He plopped himself goofily between Mandy and Jessica, grinning like a kid.
"No one invited you,"Jessica said, shaking her head.
"Oh well, tough shit ain't it,"he snickered as Mandy pushed him lightly.
"Might as well let them stay,"Kristin muttered as Kevin cuddled up with her.
AJ laughed as Jessica finally gave in to his embrace,"There's my girl. You look hot in those shorts by the way."
"Oh shut up and watch the movie,"she replied.
They all finished up the night together, falling asleep watching the remainder of Dirty Dancing.
