Jessica closed her eyes and let loose completely. Her tall, thin body moved in time to the loud music. The boys' limo driver recommended this club. It was one of the hottest clubs in Manhattan and the line was practically down the street. A few smiles, a little cleavage, and some flirting got them in.
She hadn't seen Kristin or Leighanne in a few minutes. The dance floor was packed and they were all jammed together. Jessica figured they just got lost in the shuffle. She didn't exactly mind either. They were watching her like hawks for the whole night and she was starting to feel like a child. Jessica knew they thought she was going to do something stupid and crazy, but all she wanted to do was forget.
As her hips swayed seductively, Jessica felt a body press up against hers. Jessica turned around and came face to face with an attractive male. Tall, built, short spikey dark hair, green eyes, a killer smile, and adorable dimples.
"HEY!"he yelled above the music.
"HI!"Jessica yelled back.
"I'M ETHAN!"he told her and put an arm around her waist.
"JESSICA,"she told him and smiled at him.
"HAS SHE LOST HER MIND??"Leiganne shrieked to Kristin as they stood on their tippytoes, watching Jessica. After scanning the crowd for about 15 minutes they finally found Jessica grinding with a good looking stranger.
"SHE'S UPSET,"Kristin concluded.
"WHAT?"Leighanne asked, not catching was Kristin said.
"SHE'S UPSET!!!"Kristin repeated.
"I KNOW!"Leighanne replied. "BUT IT'S NOT FAIR TO AJ!"
"WHAT???"
"IT's NOT FAIR TO AJ!!!"
"OHHH, I KNOW!"
"LET'S GO OVER THERE!"Leighanne yelled to Kristin and started pushing her way past the crowds of grinding people. Leighanne strained to see Jessica. She looked just in time to see Jessica slip her arms around the stranger's neck tightly and their bodies pressed together. Leighanne's eyes widened.
"EXCUSE ME!!! COMING THROUGH!!! MOVE, DAMMIT!"Leighanne screamed, frustrated. Leighanne ended up running right into someone. She looked up and was face to face with AJ and Brian.
"WHERE THE HELL IS SHE???"AJ demanded. Leighanne looked at Brian who gave her a helpless look and shrugged his shoulders.
"UM OVER THERE,"Leighanne told him and pointed over in the direction she was in.
AJ turned and looked over. He shoved people over to get over there.
Leighanne turned back to Brian,"WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING HERE???"
"HE'S DRUNK AND UPSET,"Brian said miserably. "DO YOU THINK I REALLY WANTED TO COME DOWN HERE LEIGH? THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO."
Leighanne nodded and took a hold of Brian's hand gingerly and followed AJ.
"JESS!"AJ hollared and grabbed a hold of her arm.
Jessica gasped and her eyes widened,"AJ!"
"WHO'S HE?"Ethan asked, confused.
"HER FUCKING BOYFRIEND. WHO THE HELL ARE YOU???"AJ yelled, angrily, taking a step closer to him.
"AJ STOP IT! WE WERE JUST DANCING,"Jessica said, helplessly.
AJ ignored her,"WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU???"
"CALM DOWN MAN, WE WERE JUST DANCING,"Ethan said, raising his hands in mock defeat.
"LET'S GO,"AJ commanded and pulled her away from him.
"DUDE CHILL OUT OK? DON'T DO ANYTHING CRAZY!"Brian warned him as him, Leighanne, and Kristin struggled to keep up with him. They left the club and got in the awaiting limo.
"AJ what's wrong with you??"Jessica cried as the limo sped off.
"What's wrong with me??? Gee I don't know Jess. You're a smart girl, you figure it out!"AJ spat. Jessica put a hand on his tattooed arm. AJ shrugged away from her and stared out the window.
"I know you have a lot to say AJ so just say it ok?"Jessica said softly.
"You don't want me to say anything, trust me,"AJ told her, warningly.
"I want to know what you're thinking,"Jessica persisted.
"Oh no you don't,"AJ said.
"Yes I do!"Jessica said, her voice raising.
"Fine you want to know what the fuck I'm thinking?? I'm thinking that I feel like a fucking idiot for falling for you. I knew what the hell I was getting myself into. But you, you led me on. You're so fucking selfish you know? You don't give a shit what the hell anyone else is going through. You don't care how I feel! All you care about is you. You're so wrapped up in your own little bubble in Nickyland that you don't see what's going on around you. I love you, but you don't care about that do you? Of course not. So yeah, that's what I'm thinking."
Jessica was crying now and Leighanne was trying to comfort her,"That's not true AJ! You know that's not true!"
"Jess, please don't. He's drunk, he doesn't know what he's saying,"Brian pleaded.
"Oh I don't know what I'm sayin Brian? I may be drunk but I know what I'm sayin!"AJ yelled. "She fucking used me to try to get over her little heartbreak!"
"I DID NOT! You have no goddamn right to say that AJ! No right at all!"Jessica screamed at him.
AJ laughed sarcastically,"Oh no? Oh wait, I forgot, I'm talking to the freakin ice queen over here."
"Stop it AJ!"Kristin warned him.
"I'm done with this bullshit anyway,"AJ said. "Go running to loverboy. Tt's ok, I'm done with it."
"Are you saying we're over?"Jessica whispered in between tears.
"That's what it sounds like doesn't it darling?"AJ said bitterly. "Isn't that what you want? Isn't that what you've been waiting to hear?"
Jessica shook her head no. Her body was shaking as the tears came down faster.
AJ didn't say anything. He just sank down in his seat and stared out the window. He really did love her, but he knew he needed to let her go. That's what she needed. Neither of them were happy and he couldn't hold her back. AJ knew he was harsh with all the things he said, but he was angry. Jessica wasn't the only who had a broken heart.
The rest of the ride back to the hotel was silent. No one knew what to say. As they pulled up to the hotel, AJ was the first one out of the limo. He went into the hotel and didn't look back at any of them.
"Jess-"Leighanne started.
"Don't,"Jessica told her and walked into the hotel.
Brian and Leighanne exchanged looks, and the two of them and Kristin walked into the hotel.
"Brian, I should go talk to her,"Leighanne told him as they waited for the elevator.
"I thought she made it clear that she didn't want you to talk to her,"Brian said to his worried wife.
"I know but-"
"Leigh, it's not your problem. It's something Jessica, AJ, Nick, and whoever else is involved has to work out for themselves,"Brian told her gently.
"She's my friend Brian. She's upset, I have to see if she's ok. I know it's not my problem and I'm not going to make it my problem but she needs someone right now,"Leighanne said firmly as they got into the elevator.
Brian smiled and squeezed her hand,"That's why I love you. You're always making sure everyone's ok."
Leighanne smiled as they traveled up to their floor and got off,"Ok, I'm going to go to Jess's. I'll be back in a little while ok Bri?"
"Alright,"Brian replied and kissed her.
Leighanne headed off to Jessica's room and knocked on the door. No answer.
"Jessica! It's me. Open the door,"Leighanne said, knocking on it again.
"Just leave me alone Leighanne! I told you I didn't want to talk!" Leihganne could tell she was crying.
"Jess, open up. Please, I want to make sure you're alright,"Leighanne persisted.
"I'm fine. Now go away."
"Jessica, open the damn door!"
The door swung open and there stood Jessica with a suitcase in her hand. Her makeup was smeared from the tears.
"What are you doing?"Leighanne asked her, gesturing towards the suitcase.
"Packing."
"Why the hell are you packing right now?"
"I'm catching the next flight back to Florida. There's no reason for me to stay. I don't want to be here. AJ doesn't want me to be here. I just want to go home,"Jessica said. "I need to spend time with my family anyway. I'll go see my dad, hang out with my sister. It'll be fine."
"Jess please don't go. I want you here. Everyone else wants you here,"Leighanne begged her.
"No, I can't. This is for the best. All I did was cause trouble while I was here. I don't want to start any more,"Jessica said sadly, averting her eyes to the ground. "I never wanted to hurt him you know. And I didn't use him to get over Nick. That was never my intention."
"I know sweetie. He's just upset. Give him time and then go talk to him."
Jessica nodded,"Listen, I'm not going to be around to say goodbye to anyone. Tell them all I said goodbye. And tell AJ that I'm sorry and I never meant to hurt him. I know he wouldn't listen to me."
"Consider it done,"Leighanne said and pulled her into a hug. "You're going to be ok Jess. Everything going to work out."
"You promise?"Jessica said, giving her a small smile.
"I promise. Everything's going to be ok."
