Once used by many in their homes, modern technology has caused the mangle to be used almost exclusively by professionals. What is a mangle?
A mangle (or wringer) is a device, once made from cast iron, with two wooden rollers and a handle on a wheel. It was used to wring clothes dry after washing. With the invention of washers and then dryers, the mangle is used mainly by professional cleaners now, to press and fold sheets and such.
