The English clipper ship Cutty Sark got its name from the Robert Burns poem "Tam o'Shanter". What does "Cutty Sark" mean in Scottish?
 
"Cutty Sark" means "short shirt" or "short undergarment" in Scottish. It was the name of a garment worn by a character in the poem. The ship was launched in 1869, and is now a fully restored tourist attraction in Greenwich, England.
