Trivia for 11/12
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Answer for 11/11:
What connection does Emporia, Kansas shoe store owner Al King have to Veterans Day?
In 1953, King, who had been involved with the American War Dads during WWII, had the idea to expand Armistice Day to celebrate ALL veterans, not just those from WWI. After the Emporia Chamber of Commerce took up the cause, a bill was pushed through Congress by then-U.S. Rep. Ed Rees, also from Emporia. President Eisenhower signed it into law on May 26, 1954.
