In 1930, 11-year-old Venetia Burney contributed what to astronomy?
 
She came up with the name Pluto for the then-newly discovered ninth planet. Her grandfather passed on the suggestion, and it was liked because the first two letters matched the initials of Percival Lowell, who had predicted its existence. Her grandfather's brother, Henry Madan, had also suggested the names of Phobos and Deimos for the moons of Mars in 1878.
