Trivia for 5/20
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Answer for 5/19:
A week after The Brooklyn Bridge opened, in 1883, a rumor about the bridge collapsing caused a stampede in which at least twelve people were killed. For the next year, the bridge was under a cloud of doubt about it's stability. That is until May of 1884, when this man, and dozens of his "associates", staged a convoy across the bridge to show how safe it really was. Who was this man?
P.T. Barnum, and his parade consisted of about 17 camels and 21 elephants, including the world famous Jumbo. A massive audience watched and applauded the spectacle, and once this group made their way across, doubts about the bridge's safety were put to rest.
47 players answered correctly.
