Way Too Much Free Time

My good friend Chris called from Wisconsin later in the day the rest of this nonsense is going on. I told him all about my week: attending the Northwestern game (we kicked some) later that night, going out the following Saturday, and, of course, the password of Brian's AOL Instant Messenger. I mentioned how I had gotten on his name and chatted with a few people and also how when I came clean to the people online, I could NOT convince them I WASN'T Brian.

Brian, the victimWhat got me was when I came back from the Northwestern game. Dan and I were in the room, Zack and Brett were still at the stadium. I was in my comfy chair reading I-Can't-Remember-What when Zack's computer got an IM from Brian. "Is Zack there?" I was obligated to tell him he wasn't. "Oh, I just needed help with my math homework" Peculiar. Brian asking Zack for help with his homework? I mean, this is ZACK we are talking about here! (I would just like to point out that Zack is quite intelligent, and I only like to poke fun at him). "Well, I really don't need help, I just want to stare at him" OK. That is just way too peculiar. Dan and I glance at each other in panic, close the window, and quietly go back to what we are doing, hoping Brian and Zack keep the love affair a little more discrete. An hour later I receive another phone call. It's Chris.

"Matt! You CANNOT believe how much fun I just had! I just spent the last two hours toying with people online with the guy's name and password you gave me (uh... I guess I did indirectly tell him Brian's password and screen name) and started completely fooling around with people..." As it turns out, Chris had gotten online as Brian, talked to 20 people about all sorts of strange things, including mocking other people, confessing he is... fruity, and talking about rashes in not so friendly territory (which ironically have become a reality on our floor). I have a copy of all the incredibly strange conversations Chris was kind enough to record in notepad. Small world, huh? Chris had IM'ed Zack (which he didn't know was my roommate) and ended up talking to me (which he also didn't know at the time). You know how much it hurts to read the conversations Chris had with Brian's online buddies? Dan and I were laughing so hard... I had to stop reading in the middle and take a break because my stomach hurt so horribly. Brian hasn't found the culprit who got on his computer to this day, even though he has asked me if I knew who did... I am just waiting for him to come to this website.
