Whisper, Star, and Flame
The Dying Garden

by Kali

The blood red fence
Holding, guarding, savagely hiding
The dead and dying
All in the garden
Fading away to brown flowers
Dead leaves
Murdered beauty

And the birds don’t sing
Not for anything
And people stay away
From the dying garden.

The jack-o-lantern
Gleeful, evil
Grins so bright
Beaming through the night
Rots and decays
Whilst laughing, laughing
Dying
Dead

And the birds don’t sing
Not for anything
And people stay away
From the dying garden.

The stones so cold
Grimly stand on the earth
The ghosts walk
Moaning, roaming
No peace in death
The garden waits
Waits as it dies
Waits for… what?
For what will come tomorrow
Next time…

And the birds don’t sing
Not for anything
And people stay away
From the dying
The waiting
The eternally time-stilled
Garden.
